	Log in to remove this advertisement Alright, I read an article on MSN.com. It was reporting Carlos Santana's support for legalizing marijuana. Apparently, he says "Use the funds for education! It will be fine in the end!" And I'm going "Dude, you just lost your career, man." So, I go the comments (Which, at the time, were 666, LOL), and I thought I'd see 666 people berating Santana's support... Only to find that wasn't the case at all http://boards.msn.com/Musicboards/thread.aspx?threadid=1036837&boardsparam=Page%3d1 The above link shows a good amount of people saying we should legalize weed. OK, that is just messed up. Maybe this belongs in the intellectual exchange forum, but I think we're smart enough to have a serious conversation about it under casual settings. What the bleep is wrong with the United States? I know that we're not supposed to be uber-conservative and religious and shit, but really? Really? We're actually condoning the possibility of legal marijuana in our borders, and that sort of sickens me. Did we lose it at some point where we'll just about support anything that won't harm us immediately? Do we always fail to see the impending consequences that can occur out of our actions? 	Well, there was still a concept of good and evil, no matter what we think of some things now. Law is there to establish order, and crime is a result of rebelling against order. In all truth, crime is someone's twisted way of saying "We want freedom!" It's a bunch of shit to begin with, because the law at least tries to do what it can for the good of society. Allowing people to become potheads isn't exactly a positive thing.

	Uhm, I actually think it's more intelligent to legalize weed. People are going to get it anyway, why not make it legal and try to make some tax money off of it? Yeah, more people will be exposed to it but from what I hear, it's not exactly horrible for one's health. I don't see why it shouldn't be legal, tbh. ------------------- #extend Give It Up! It has you laze around all day, you get addicted to it, and you become a stoner. Legalizing it would have us bowing down to illegal things. Soon enough, we'll find some bullshit about how we can tax crack sniffers, heroin addicts, and drug cartels. Is that what we want to do? Just adher to a bad system for the sole purpose of our own benefit?

	As far as I know (not saying for sure because I don't care, because I'm not touching the stuff either way) Marijuana doesn't actually have any harmful substances, just because its outlaws now doesn't mean that its bad, Government can't tax it because most people would just grow it. Thus they outlawed it. But then again I could be 100% wrong, if so please enlighten me. Edit: @ post above, he meant use the tax money from weed to get money for education

	You see, people for legalization of weed are either a combination of stupid people who want weed, or who are behind theoretically sound regulation. I give some merit to people with well-planned, thought out regulation ideas. People who have a buttgasm and go "Marijuana evil!" are pretty ignorant, as are people who go on and on about, "It's a plant, man! It's not bad for you!" ------------------- Back. Weed isn't some awful, terrible, dreadful drug that turns people into criminals. I hate that generalization. There are a ton of Neo members that smoke weed, and I know that isn't saying much hahah, but seriously. Open your eyes a bit. You know how many people are in jail for possession of weed? I don't know either, but it's a lot. A lot of those people probably have done no wrong in their life, with the exception of possessing an illegal substance, obviously. I just think the whole drug war thing is a bit over-exaggerated and legalizing marijuana would help the economy and crime problems in some way. Not saying it's the ultimate solution, but it would help. -------------------

	Legalizing it would make keeping track of it a lot easier, and then nobody would ever get any sprayed shit. Prisons wouldn't be as crowded, too.

This is the crap that prolonged slavery and Jim Crow, because it didn't seem to be a problem. Because society was burning in flames, everything looked alright. As a matter of fact, slavery was a strong part of the south's economy, so the negativity in the situation didn't seem as severe as it really was. Eventually, though, we saw that it wasn't right, and eventually eradicated both from society.
