The reason I don't do drugs is because I've grown up in an area infested with drugs and I've seen the effects it had on peoples lives and health.

My parents never told me anything, though I did get fed the "cannabis is a gateway drug HOOGA BOOGA AAAAAAAA!" scare tactic at school which is a load of bs. Alcohol is biggest gateway drug there is. Under the influence of alcohol you do things you wouldn't normally do, such as accept a line of coke.

Not really what the thread is about... Lemme rephrase this to better be understood by people under 16.

WHY do you personally feel that drugs are bad? Was it something your parents told you? Something you were taught in school? What are your reasons for staying away from drugs or for the older ones(and more experimental ones), what were your reasons for doing drugs, and do you feel that you were misled?

Why do i feel drugs are bad?

Someone i knew died from drugs, but i was always against drugs before then, i've never had my parents tell me not to do them it's because i have sense.

I drink Alcohol but i still believe other drugs are far more worse.

I also hate it when people come up to me who i know in nightclubs and say "i've just done this, i've just done that" bragging about it makes you look more like a *bleep*in idiot to be honest.

What the hell is wrong with drugs?

Some of the best Music has been written on them. Some of the best theories, stories, and decisions have been made on it. People want to do drugs for the same reason people play video games or play sports. You want to take part in an activity that you can enjoy for a number of hours without having too much of an effect on your life outside it... granted this isnt the case for alot of drug users, but its the same for video game players.

Anyway as to give an unbias view on drugs i will give you SOME pros and cons

Pros
- Depending on which drug, usually the feeling of 'High' will be enjoyable
- Allows you to think, or experience things you wouldnt normally think/experience
- They are 'mood' enhancers depending on what drugs you do

Cons
- *bleep*ed up things can happen as a result of drugs
- people can get hooked/addicted
- Can be a waste of money if your doing it constantly
- Can harm you if you overdose

Anyway thats not really important to what i wanted to say. Some drugs such as Cannabis rarely harm anyone

Death from Cannabis overdose - None, thats right None
Death from Alchahol overdose - God knows, but i bet its not none

I realise that its not taking into account Cannabis or alchahol related deaths, which i'm sure will be higher, for both. I also realise that they're both drugs i just wanted to show it from a legal/illeagal perspective

ANYWAY

Fact of the matter is, some of the people in this discussion are a bit before they're time anyway, a few 15 year olds and what not. Trust me, you'll do drugs at some point. It seems really stupid to you now, it did to me at your age, but my god things change. I have done numerous drugs including alchahol at least once a week, Smetimes to an eccessive amount, sometimes not. Whatever, i beleive that if you really want to have fun, drugs are a way of letting go, whether you see it as a bad thing.

Those who have never tried drugs, saying they're bad. Thats a really, really biased view, based on what is drilled into your head as a child. 'DRUGS ARE BAD'. Listen, drugs are no more dangerous than driving a car on a motorway (freeway). To be fair i want to look back on my chidlhood and say, wow those were some amazing times, even if i cant remember them, whatever your opinion may differ. But its social, i wouldnt have met as many friends/girls if i hadnt drunk/done drugs socially

In the end it is really your choice, but before you make an opinion on SOME drugs then you'd have to experience their effects. Obviously this doesnt go for hardcore drugs such as heroin etc but you get the point.

I dont brag about the drugs i've taken, I havent gotten so wasted i've killed, seriously hurt someone, nor do i know anyone that has, but even if I did, it wouldnt change my opinion on them. It depends on the mentality of the user or in some cases abuser, if you takes drugs it doesnt make you think you can fly, it doesnt make you think your invincable, *bleep*s who do drugs do this themselves. Not once have i thought i could fly

As i said it's your choice, but if you want my opinion, drugs arent half as bad as some things in society and definately a good way to unwind or release...

I was never taught it through my parents or through any education system (maybe a bit from the education system). I learned through (although this may sound pathetic) this website, and we saw a video on drugs last year. By that time, I had already known what drugs were and all of that. I knew to stay away from them. I forget exactly how I stumbled across them, but I am almost 100% positive that it was because of this site.

Why do I avoid them? Multiple reasons, actually.

1. I would think (or at least hope) that at my age it is nearly (if not fully) impossible to attain drugs.

Don't be so sure. I'm only a year older than you and I've seen plenty of kids my age selling pot to each other. I have no idea where they get it, but it's there.
