Q: What is the primary theme of your campaign? A: Cocaine chic
Q: If you could change one thing on Neoseeker, what would it be and why? A: I would probably try and get something like a Beginner's Forum where any new members can ask anything about the site. They get to post there until they have a certain amount of posts, and then they can post around Neoseeker. That way there would be moderators monitoring and mentoring them, and there would be less hostility from the veteran members.
Q: What is the most essential “part” of Neoseeker? A: I think the most essential part is the members. Without a responsible and fun group of members, the forums are nothing. All of the great communities that are found within Neoseeker are the heart of the site.
Q: If you won the primary, how would you convince the voters you are better than the other four candidates? A: I think I would show them that I'm a fun guy, but I also know when to take things serious. I know I've been the candidate that cracks the jokes, but I am sure you have also seen a few of my serious posts. I feel that when the time comes I will shape up and show everyone my qualifications.
Q: Who is your biggest opposition in the race? A: I think my biggest opposition in this is snowfox dreamer. He is a very likable guy, and has a big following thanks to his involvement in the Graphics and Animation community. Plus, he is very intelligent, and has a knack for creating gorgeous graphics and posts. I will definitely have to watch out for him.
Q: Why did you sign up for this competition? A: I mostly did it because it's a cool distraction from the daily monotony of the site. I actually thought that I had no chance of being selected, but obviously Enigma did, and I am very grateful for it. To be honest, I didn't sign up because I thought I could make a change in this site, which some opposition is no doubt going to say as a response to this question, because I know that I won't be able to do anything more than I do now if I was elected.
Q: Gas prices are off the wall, what would you do as a real president to remedy them? A: I would drill Alaska for it's oil. That way we wouldn't have to import all of our oil, and so we could definitely cut the cost of gas within out country. I also think we should keep developing more fuel efficient cars, but it would also be very beneficial to drill Alaska.
Q: What is your stance on the environment across the world? Do you believe in global warming/climate change? A: I think that Al Gore is a complete sellout, regardless of whether or not global warming exists. He no doubt has a larger "global foot print" or whatever the hell they are then any of us do. I think that the Democrats are blowing things way out of proportion, and that there is no immediate danger. My question for them is: Why did it start in the 80's when there were many, MANY more fossil fuels burned during the Industrial Revolution?
Q: Loungin’ is the most popular forum on Neoseeker, but has recently been accused of being on a downward spiral. What is the cause for this, and what would you recommend should be done to heal it? A: There is nothing wrong with Loungin'. The veterans remember a smaller community, and they feel that there is no sense of community. So of course they will think it's bad. But in reality it isn't bad; it's just bigger. The mods are doing a fantastic job now.
Q: What is your favorite forum on Neoseeker and why? A: That's a toughie. I would probably say General DS, because that's where I got started. If I hadn't started posting in that forum I wouldn't be where I got today, so I owe it all to that forum, and the moderator at the time, oOhennersOo.
Q: Which presidential candidate in the actual elections in the United States is your favorite and why? A: I would say I favor McCain right now, although I don't necessarily agree with all of his views. I like his decisions regarding Iraq (let the flaming ensue) and the economy. Well, I don't really like his decisions regarding the economy, but I like them much more than Obama and Clinton's ideas.
Q: What is your opinion on the banning of high-profile members, and is the current “private” policy a good one? Or should bans be announced publicly? A: I feel that Super Mods don't have to reveal any information if it isn't necessary. It may be controversial, but they obviously have reasons for not telling the members.
Q: The war on terrorism, and more importanty, the War on Iraq, has been a well publicized “mistake” made by President Bush. What are your thoughts? A: I think that we had every right to invade Iraq. We were threatened by terrorists, and the government felt it necessary to root out the remnants that were in Iraq. Although we may have overstayed our welcome, why the hell should we evacuate now when the government is in shambles?
Q: Why should the people on Neoseeker vote for you? A: Vote for me because I am a responsible guy, but I am not taking this election too seriously. I know when to be serious and when to make a joke, and when the elections are run on an Internet Forum, this is what you want in a candidate. ------- Moonrise: quote Moonrise
Q: What is the primary theme of your campaign? A: My theme? Listen to Iron Maiden. Really though, I'm not really going to try and fool anyone with random promises and stupid crap like that. I've never been a moderator; I'm just a normal member with a relatively high level of intelligence that doesn't like to deal with ignorance.
Q: If you could change one thing on Neoseeker, what would it be and why? A: I'd just like more consistency in certain policies on the site. People say that "blanket policies" don't work but at the same time you need them sometimes for the sake of keeping things consistent. You won't have people complaining about hypocrisy if everything is done in a consistent manner.
Q: What is the most essential "part" of Neoseeker? A: Most essential? Hard to say. One thing that made me stick to the site over other forums was the overall appearance and ease of use of the site.
Q: If you won the primary, how would you convince the voters you are better than the other four candidates? A: I probably wouldn't really. I figure I can appeal to a lot of people with varying interests, however. The only thing I really discriminate against is general ignorance, so I can generally get along with people in all areas of the site.
Q: Who is your biggest opposition in the race? A: Not sure really. It's hard to gauge who has the most support from everyone but I'd say that most of my opinions on things are shared by Sereph, even if he does say them in a far more direct manner. That, and the fact that he's in the same party probably makes him the biggest competition.
Q: Why did you sign up for this competition? A: Essentially on a whim, and I figured that if by some chance I won I could make use of a free account merger.
Q: Gas prices are off the wall, what would you do as a real president to remedy them? A: Oh, don't get me started on this. I just finished writing a 10 page report on our need to facilitate the creation of a nationwide high speed rail system. It's ultimately the best option we have to resolve our rising dependancy on oil and airlines for travel. In the immediate future, however, I would say to start using our own oil reserves. At this point in time, we may very well have more under our soil than any other nation in the world.
Q: What is your stance on the environment across the world? Do you believe in global warming/climate change? A: I've seen too much conflicting information on global warming to draw a real conclusion on the matter, but it isn't exactly difficult to help remedy the problems. We already have the technology available to reduce carbon based emissions in the atmosphere and find more "green" forms of energy. Solar, Wind, and Hydro power are all available for us to use, but people just aren't willing to spend the money at the time to utliize them. I imagine that things will change as technology advances and costs decrease for more "Green" forms of energy and such, but we should still do our part now.
Q: Loungin' is the most popular forum on Neoseeker, but has recently been accused of being on a downward spiral. What is the cause for this, and what would you recommend should be done to heal it? A: Loungin' has been essentially the same for the past three or four years. I think that a lot of things are done unecessarily (such as having more than three moderators at a time), but none of these issues are really hurting anything. The fact of the matter is that things aren't going to change because this "downward spiral" is due to the icnreasing population of Neoseeker. Too many people causes overcrowding, things overlapping, etc. etc. (not to mention that more people means more idiots slipping in here and there as well).
Q: What is your favorite forum on Neoseeker and why? A: Probably Final Fantasy VII, if for no other reason that I've been there since around the time I joined the site and there's still a few members present from that time. Otherwise, it's a toss-up between Sports and G&A simply because those are my most predominant interests.
Q: Which presidential candidate in the actual elections in the United States is your favorite and why? A: It's hard to say, really. One thing I like about Mccain is that he really isn't screwing around much. The problem, however, is that Mccain is a total asshole. Obama has some good ideas but I think that both he and Clinton are getting ahead of themselves with "healthcare for everyone". I'm all for people having healthcare, but socialized systems really don't ever work and it will take a lot of tweaking to actually get something working with any sort of effectiveness at all. I see a lot of people saying how hard it is for them to find healthcare, but last I checked I could be a full time janitor at my local hospital and not only get full healthcare for myself but for everyone in my immediate family as well.
Q: What is your opinion on the banning of high-profile members, and is the current "private" policy a good one? Or should bans be announced publicly? A: I don't like this question. "High profile" or not, if a member deserves a permanent ban then that's what they should get. I don't see anything wrong with making this information public unless it personally effects other members on the site. Of course, that information isn't and will never be publicized accoring to the site's current policy. Naturally, this makes me wonder about Ban Listings because they are in direct violation of the previously mentioned rule regarding member privacy on bans. I don't care if people see them as a "deterrent" for bad behavior, because it's still a violation of a policy that seems to be considered top priority for permanent bans.
Q: The war on terrorism, and more importanty, the War on Iraq, has been a well publicized "mistake" made by President Bush. What are your thoughts? A: It looks to me like he's just trying to finish the job that his father started with Desert Storm. It's nice to see Suddam out of there, but it's taken a massive hit on our money and taken the lives of thousands of soldiers. I really just take issue with all of the lies that were told in order to get us into Iraq into the first place. I understand that war is sometimes a part of life and we need to do what we can to stop terrorism, but we aren't doing ourselves any favors by bombing the shit out of Iraq because the government made up a load of crap about WMDs.
Q: Why should the people on Neoseeker vote for you? A: Well I could actually benefit from winning this thing and it's nice to help people out, I suppose. Should I be trying to appeal to people here now? Well, I play most sports, I listen to various types of music (rap, rock, orchestrated, hip hop, metal, j rock and j pop, etc. etc.), I play RPGs, Shooters, Action games, Puzzle games, Side Scrolling games, Fighting games, Flight sims, Platformers, etc. etc.. I also like to watch Anime and regular TV as well (The Office in particular). ------- Rome: quote Rome
Q: What is the primary theme of your campaign? A: The primary theme, I would say, is that I'm a fairly knowledgeable person with close ties to the regulars of Loungin' and of the site in general. That's the point that I want to stress most, because it's the one I value the most.
Q: If you could change one thing on Neoseeker, what would it be and why? A: That's a tough one, but I can answer it. I know I've said stuff about helping jump start Education and doing something about permaban inquiries, but seeing as how practicality is not an issue in the question, I would have all moderators take up a respectful tone at all times the members. I've seen, from time to time, moderators make remarks that are not necessary and seem unprofessional, which in the end probably harms the image of the site.
Q: What is the most essential “part” of Neoseeker? A: It's whatever people utilize the most, and that's the forums. We have thousands of members come in everyday to participate here. Our forums attract the future Portal Staff members and administrators. The future of Neoseeker is in the forums. We must always make sure these are kept well by competent, friendly, helpful moderators and not allow members that troll and flood. Also, the forums are where the communities form and friendships are made. This are the things that cannot be priced in significance.
Q: If you won the primary, how would you convince the voters you are better than the other four candidates? A: The same way I have been. I'll be honest and do my best not to be rude. The rest is to let the members have faith. It's not been too hard so far. I'd say the hard part passed last week. If some new factor comes, then I'll be sure to handle it as best I can, but until it happens, I can't say exactly what needs to be done.
Q: Who is your biggest opposition in the race? A: Right, now I would say it is snowfox. He seems to be the largest contender for my party's nomination. After that, things could change. It depends on who supports whom after the Primaries, so there is no way to see what my challenge is in the future until I tackle it head on.
Q: Why did you sign up for this competition? A: The simple answer is: for fun. The long one...well, I wanted to see how well I could do. I think it would be a great test of my ability, and an indicator of how I stand with members in the forums. I also have a keen interest in politics, so it's like the businessman playing Monopoly or the English professor playing Scrabble. I think this is the event for me.
Q: Gas prices are off the wall, what would you do as a real president to remedy them? A: We need to start making the transition to fuel efficient vehicles. There is one car that can run on one hundred miles to the gallon, and it is largely electrical. I would urge that these be mass produced my car manufacturers, and offer a tax credit to every person in the country who buys one. Also, we need to be self-sufficient with out energy sources. The Swedish will have cars running basically on wood in ten years. Also, I've heard that waste in landfills can be used to extract ethanol. I think getting this biofuel out on a larger level would greatly help or fuel needs.
Also, this is one thing that most people never consider. A simple thing such as insulation in a house or a building can determine how much you spend on energy. The truth is: Current buildings have poor insulation, because it all relies on electricity. Places aren't designed to keep heat or cool air like they used to. I would give tax breaks to producers that can make homes and building with proper insulation, and if possible, have a regulation on insulation standards for future buildings and homes being built.
Q: What is your stance on the environment across the world? Do you believe in global warming/climate change? A: I firmly believe that global warming is man-made issue. If you examined the relation between the carbon dioxide we've pumped into the atmosphere and the rise in global temperature, then it's obvious. Many people say that we couldn't possibly produce something so large. If you look back at the ozone hole and the chlorofluorocarbon emissions--the ozone hole began to mend after these CFC's were banned abroad. If we can impact our ozone, then the rest of the atmosphere is just the same.
Q: Loungin’ is the most popular forum on Neoseeker, but has recently been accused of being on a downward spiral. What is the cause for this, and what would you recommend should be done to heal it? A: Well, there was discussion of inactivity and "slowness" for a while. I think that was just because people were on Spring Break and went on trips during April and March. That's over now, and Loungin' is at gargantuan level of activity. I think it's doing fine, in that respect.
Of course, there's always talk of the Golden Age of Loungin'. I've read some basic testimonies from older members saying that there never really was a Golden Age. Loungin' has just grown over time, so it is not so exclusive to a small group as it was. Loungin' is a great forum, and people ought to realize that.
Q: What is your favorite forum on Neoseeker and why? A: I guess it is Loungin'. IE is my forum, and I moderate it and all, but sometimes, it's so quiet that you can hear the crickets chirp. Loungin' is a megapolis of a forum, and it's never a dull moment here.
Q: Which presidential candidate in the actual elections in the United States is your favorite and why? A: Hillary Clinton is my candidate of choice. I like her because she has such god ideas and rich experience. She led the successful education reform in Arkansas, which had the second worst education system at the time. She learned a lot about the "Washington experience" as the First Lady, when leading the Health Care Reform. She has good understanding on spending our budget. She wants us out of Iraq. She'll push more environmentally friendly changes and regulations. She's going to help students pay their way through college. She's going to help us overcome the raging oil prices. She has great plans for these, and seems to be the only with any.
Q: What is your opinion on the banning of high-profile members, and is the current “private” policy a good one? Or should bans be announced publicly? A: No matter who you are, if you violate the rules, you will be banned. That's irrefutable. I don't care who it; I'm going to ban them for misconduct. I had a member in IE who'd been there for years, upset that I banned him/her for flaming, even though he/she had been doing it all along. I'm not going to take crap from members.
As for privacy, I think members have the right to a formal inquiry under special guidelines, but only if the member in question (that was banned) grants permission for it.
Q: The war on terrorism, and more importanty, the War on Iraq, has been a well publicized “mistake” made by President Bush. What are your thoughts? A: It is an absolute disaster. Bush did not pursue Osama Bin Laden, nor did he pursue Al Qaeda. He did not finish the job in Afghanistan. What he did was pin a false association on Iraq, a country that Al Qaeda hated for its secular government, and invaded without really understanding the people there. He thought they would all get along, and rebuild their country, but instead the Sunnis and Shi'a are engaged in a civil war. "Better yet", Al Qaeda moved in so they could kill Americans. Bin Laden, years before 9/11, said that he wanted to draw America into the Middle East so they could kill Americans right there. Bush fell right into that trap.
The exploitation of our military to private interests is astounding. Bush has hired companies to cook the food for our service people, do their laundry, and other chores for them. This sounds kind and sweet, but the military always used to have our service people do it by themselves, with no extra cost. Things like this have made this war incredibly expensive, and also unnecessarily. For those that remember that thread, which I think Sereph made, about sending video games to bored soldiers, why do that? They wouldn't be bored if they could cook and do other tasks like that. Doing work isn't flattering, but it's nice to have something to do, something that isn't costing anyone anything, and something that can be taken back home for practical use. I'd rather scramble some eggs than be forced to sit on my ass.
Bush's constant mishandling of the war has damaged America's image in the world. We're not the free world anymore, so much as we are the world empire. We've angered millions in the Middle East, which has produced more terrorists that hate America and the West now. Many countries are flat out pissed at Americans for reelecting Bush. This dilapidation of American integrity and honor in the world is a tremendous disgrace on the shoulders of Bush, and he, as well as all of his supporters, should be deeply ashamed.
Q: Why should the people on Neoseeker vote for you? A: Because I'm the same average guy that's been going to Loungin' since July last year. My IE tag, I would think, has not changed my nature, except that I'm more restricted by the standards expected of moderators. If the Neoseeker people really want a president who doesn't judge unfairly and who gives proper consideration, then I'm your man, and you should vote for me.
Now, a personal note: God bless the member that read all of that. ------- ZL: quote ZL
Q: What is the primary theme of your campaign? A: No Bullshit. No Hassle. Promise.
Q: If you could change one thing on Neoseeker, what would it be and why? A: Get rid of any members that believe if you do something that opposes to the Neoseeker standard, you are deemed "cool". I'd also try to get more Supers on the site. In my opinion, the amount that we have clearly isn't enough. Some Supers are busy doing sitework, we need more that can look out for the entire forum while these are busy or unavailable.
Q: What is the most essential “part” of Neoseeker? A: Definitely a community. Without one, then Neoseeker would fail completely. Although sometimes the community does have its ups and downs, as whole, it's something that keeps Neoseeker working like it always has.
Q: If you won the primary, how would you convince the voters you are better than the other four candidates? A: I'd tell them that I'm an honest man and that I'll be willing to listen to their opinions because they are the ones that experience Neoseeker. These members should believe my honest words, if not, their loss.
Q: Who is your biggest opposition in the race? A: No one. Although there are some great candidate out there, I do not believe they meet up to my standards of opposing them, no one meets my standards. Opposing generally brings emotions that convert to hatred or envy and those are a sign of weakness when you're competing. You need to be focused and believe that you are the better person, not be worried whether your opponent might better.
Q: Why did you sign up for this competition? A: Mainly to let the Neoseeker Community see my views and how great of a person I am. People tend to think that I'm an asshole, but I'm nothing of the like. I'm understanding, and felt that Neoseeker as a whole needed to see this side of me.
Q: Gas prices are off the wall, what would you do as a real president to remedy them? A: I'd definitely send a word out to the country to try to use less gas as possible. While they are doing this, I'd have engineers, scientists, or the like work hard for a more efficient fuel or for a car that can do the same job a normal car can but with less gas. I'd also try to cut down Gas Prices, but at the same time pass a law that will allow us to save at least 25% of the gasoline imported to the United States for future references.
Q: What is your stance on the environment across the world? Do you believe in global warming/climate change? A: I do believe that there's a possibility that we're causing global warming. If I ever were the President of the United States, I'd made sure that at least a whole percentage of the country tried to use practices that would benefit our environment. That way, we would at least be a step closer to spreading the word.
Q: Loungin’ is the most popular forum on Neoseeker, but has recently been accused of being on a downward spiral. What is the cause for this, and what would you recommend should be done to heal it? A: There is certainly nothing wrong with Loungin'. Only problem with it is that the community is growing and there is no longer this little group of people that can hang out in certain threads or the like. Another thing that members need to realize is that it will no longer be like the good ol' times. Those were past memories, and Loungin' has moved on. It's best if you do as well and enjoy Loungin' for what it is today, for the larger community that it has grown into.
Q: What is your favorite forum on Neoseeker and why? A: Loungin' has to be my favorite. I've always enjoyed it no matter what. Although my old friends don't visit Loungin' anymore, it's fun to meet new people there every day and help out someone every now and then.
Q: Which presidential candidate in the actual elections in the United States is your favorite and why? A: I'm currently not updated with the actual elections, but was a while back. I was leaning towards Obama, but at this moment, things probably have changed so I currently have no say.
Q: What is your opinion on the banning of high-profile members, and is the current “private” policy a good one? Or should bans be announced publicly? A: I'm definitely support the idea that bans as the like should be kept private. But if they ever become a big issue like Excalibur's, then some sort of explanation should be announced to stop such controversy and rumors. It can either come from the Banned Member or the Moderator itself. Doesn't matter. This will of course only happen with the consent of the banned member. If not, there will be some way to let the public know that he/she refuses to let such information out just to anyone.
Q: The war on terrorism, and more importanty, the War on Iraq, has been a well publicized “mistake” made by President Bush. What are your thoughts? A: I believe the Iraq war has been a mistake that has been repeated before by the United States. Like the Vietnam War, many Americans have yet to know what's the real reason why we're over there. Fighting terrorism doesn't quite cut it to me.
Q: Why should the people on Neoseeker vote for you? A: Because unlike the other candidates, I am an honest man and am willing to hear the opinions of the people. I'd love to listen to their personal views towards Neoseeker because they are the ones that experience Neoseeker almost everyday. Their input would be great for me to make future decisions. I am that honest man that will be willing to listen to them, and that is why I believe the members of Neoseeker should vote for me.
------- Sereph: quote Sereph
Q: What is the primary theme of your campaign? A: 4DALULZ
Q: If you could change one thing on Neoseeker, what would it be and why? A: If someone outright spams with malicious intent (ie making shitty threads in Loungin' complaining about an obvious sitewide rule like not discussion pirating or spamming just for the hell of it), instant perma-ban, no matter what. Giving idiots three and four chances to churn out meaningful contributions is like playing Russian roulette with a magazine-loaded pistol.
Q: What is the most essential “part” of Neoseeker? A: Loungin'. It's the most popular forum, so therefore anything that newbies learn there will be taken to other forums they visit, which is why rules need to be air-tight there.
Q: If you won the primary, how would you convince the voters you are better than the other four candidates? A: Because I'm the only one who treats this campaign the way it was meant to be treated, as another cause of unspeakable laughter for those viewing the threads.
Q: Who is your biggest opposition in the race? A: Gaykaz (oops, I mean Gheeeykaz), as he has Slowpoke and he also has Tom. ._. But I have the power of greasy Italians on my side and the power of the LULZ.
Q: Why did you sign up for this competition? A: 4DALULZ
Q: Gas prices are off the wall, what would you do as a real president to remedy them? A: Drill in Alaska. Oh, I can't do that? Ok, how about kill anyone who drives a vehicle that gets 20MPG or under?
Q: What is your stance on the environment across the world? Do you believe in global warming/climate change? A: Believe in it or not, global warming won't kill us as fast as blind stupidity will. We're going to end up nuking the planet into a crisp before the first penguin sees the mercury in a thermometer rise.
Q: Loungin’ is the most popular forum on Neoseeker, but has recently been accused of being on a downward spiral. What is the cause for this, and what would you recommend should be done to heal it? A: A six month period of lockdown. Stupid threads ("what is your favorite [x]", "OMG I FOUND AN INTERNET RUMOR!", "My 1000th post", "Favorite Pen color", etc) would be instantly locked and deleted from the record and the creator banned for a single day if found to be a serial idiot. Idiotic comments or jokes would be considered the same as spamming and guilty of a three day ban. Instant rise in quality. Might kill the PPD initially, but really, who cares if 500 posts of that PPD is a bunch of kids declaring how funny Chuck Norris jokes are, or making lame attempts at humor that fail more miserably than a paraplegic in the Tour De France?
Q: What is your favorite forum on Neoseeker and why? A: Gears 2. Best GD ever due to awesome and funny guys, great sense of humor about everyone and intelligent discussion of a game's strengths and weaknesses without the little kids rushing in saying "OMG MY MOMMY JUST LET ME GET THIS GAME AND ITS DA BEST EVAR!"
Q: Which presidential candidate in the actual elections in the United States is your favorite and why? A: Obama. He's the only one mentally stable enough that I trust him with nuclear weapons. Hillary wouldn't do jack shit but screw up our healthcare system, McCain would have the entire US nuked off the face of the map mere hours after being sworn in and Ron Paul is such a wishy-washy pussy on his policies that he would end up accomplishing absolutely nothing by the end of his term.
Q: What is your opinion on the banning of high-profile members, and is the current “private” policy a good one? Or should bans be announced publicly? A: Banning high profile members is important for the integrity of the admin staff. However, that does not mean that when they are banned that the reasons behind their ban should be kept confidential. I think that when a member is banned that the exact reason(s) behind their ban should be allowed to be posted in their profile, either by the banned person (and pre-approved by the mod who banned them) or written by the admin himself to keep mystery out of the reasons they were banned. Simple descriptors such as "Banned for flaming spree", "Banned for bypassing", "Banned for being a twat", etc would fix all that.
Q: The war on terrorism, and more importantly, the War on Iraq, has been a well publicized “mistake” made by President Bush. What are your thoughts? A: Pull the troops now, be blamed by the rest of the world for abandoning people in need. Pull out later and be blamed for extending the conflict. Damned if you do, damned if you don't, but really, is America affected any more by bad press? The rest of the world already hates us, just pull the troops out instantly one day and watch the country destroy itself. The war is over, Iraq is in ashes and the world still hates us. So GG America.
Q: Why should the people on Neoseeker vote for you? A: 4DALULZ ------- FortePenance: quote FortePenance
Q: What is the primary theme of your campaign? A: That is indeed, a very good question. Q: If you could change one thing on Neoseeker, what would it be and why? A: Hm tough to say. I'd like to say install a "reputation" system where people can add positive rep to another seeker, if they've made a good post but God knows that it'll just get abused to death. Instead, I'll probably say, reinstall the search engine. But we all know how strenuous on the servers it was. Q: What is the most essential “part” of Neoseeker? A: The millions of forums it has. I haven't seen another website that has dedicated forums for zillions of videogames, films and to top it, a music forum as well. Who said Neo's a videogame/computer site. Q: If you won the primary, how would you convince the voters you are better than the other four candidates? A: I'll give away the name-change for free and I'm not joking. I like my name and have enough t-shirts. I wasn't even expecting to get selected as a primary candidate but since I am, i'll give away the name-change for free. If I become President. Q: Who is your biggest opposition in the race? A: In Shane's Party? Garkaz I think. >.> Overall, I'd say Rome or snowfox. Thankfully they're in the same party though so at least one of them will be gone after the primaries. Q: Why did you sign up for this competition? A: I was bored and clicked the link, no laiz. But now seeing as i'm in the competition, might as well just do some good and offer up a free name change. Q: Gas prices are off the wall, what would you do as a real president to remedy them? A: Invest in alternative energy. Firstly, I would stop production and harvest of ethanol- frankly I think that's pretty stupid. Corn and grain prices are off the wall as well and people in 3rd world countries can't afford to have the States burning corn (which by the way, is not the most efficient energy source anyway) to power their SUVs. Also, whilst some may consider alternative energy to be a redundant source, with arguments such as "it's too bothersome to invest in it" or "it's not as efficient as fossil fuels", I'd simply show them a Pascal's Wager: Invest in Alternative Energy and we run out of oil: We're not *bleep*ed Invest in Alternative Energy and we don't run out of oil: We've created a lot more useable energy sources that can be cheaper and more efficient. Don't Invest in Alternative Energy and we run out of oil: We're *bleep*ed. Don't invest in Alternative Energy and we don't run out of oil: We're not *bleep*ed, but haven't advantaged ourselves really. Q: What is your stance on the environment across the world? Do you believe in global warming/climate change? A: Whilst I consider preservation of the environment to be important, I probably wouldn't rank it above other major issues. As for global warming, I believe it exists, but a lot of the time the media definitely over "sensationalizes" it. Massive tornados will not rape you in your sleep, simply because of a 1c increase in temperature. Q: Loungin’ is the most popular forum on Neoseeker, but has recently been accused of being on a downward spiral. What is the cause for this, and what would you recommend should be done to heal it? A: Well, it is unavoidable if you ask me. As Neoseeker grows, so will the amount of *bleep*tards and assholes. We can't exactly say "no *bleep* off, you can't post here" so... Q: What is your favorite forum on Neoseeker and why? A: Musician's Corner, because I moderate it. And because the community is knit tighter than Madeline McCann. Q: Which presidential candidate in the actual elections in the United States is your favorite and why? A: None of them. Even if I was American, i'd never vote for the lesser of the two evils. I disagree with Barack alot, Hillary is, well, Hillary, McCain wants to stay in Iraq and Ron Paul is like... not there. @_@ Q: What is your opinion on the banning of high-profile members, and is the current “private” policy a good one? Or should bans be announced publicly? A: Hard to say. If it were announced publicly, it'd stirr up alotta controversy I say, but lots of people are already against this private policy. I'd probably say, we might as well keep it as it is. People will find out about X member anyway through word of mouth and people who know. Alternatively, we could "test" the public system for a while then if it fails, go back to the old system. Q: The war on terrorism, and more importanty, the War on Iraq, has been a well publicized “mistake” made by President Bush. What are your thoughts? A: It's a quagmire war that's happily eating away at the United States money. Q: Why should the people on Neoseeker vote for you? A: I'm giving away a free name change. ---- There ya go, Ryan. ------- Daedric Prince: quote Daedric Prince
Q: What is the primary theme of your campaign? A: The primary theme of my campaign is equality and keeping neoseeker as it is. There are very few things that I think need changing here on neo. A lot of people are pushing for restrictions and other changes, but I feel as if things are fine how they are. Another thing which I strongly support is equality among members. It doesn't matter if you are a neo newbie or a cruisin member, a mod or part of portal staff. Everyone should have the same amount of respect.
Q: If you could change one thing on Neoseeker, what would it be and why? A: To be honest,I don't think anything should be changed. Why change what isn't broken? A lot of people talk about "loungin being on a downward spiral" and whatnot, but the truth is, its stayed relatively the same. I also do not see any reason why the supers should disclose information concerning perma bans. They have their reasons, and we should respect that.
Q: What is the most essential “part” of Neoseeker? A: The members. Without the members, neoseeker would be pointless.
Q: If you won the primary, how would you convince the voters you are better than the other four candidates? A: I would convince the voters that many of the promises made by the other parties simply don't make sense. Part of their campaign plan is to inquire about specific perma bans. Lets me realistic here. The supers have no reason to suddenly change their mind and tell everyone about every single ban.
Q: Who is your biggest opposition in the race? A: Rome, obviously
Q: Why did you sign up for this competition? A: I signed up for this to debate in a stress free way. To compare and contrast campaign plans without the need to get emotional. Sadly, some of the members of my party have taken the debates as a personal attack. I am very disappointed at the level of immaturity in some actions taken against me. There is a difference between debating and openly flaming other candidates. While I personally have not taken offence to the flaming against me, I am disappointed that some people could not have been more mature. If they joined this, and I quote "for shits and giggles" they should never have entered.
Q: Gas prices are off the wall, what would you do as a real president to remedy them? A: Alaska. I see no reason why the US shouldnt start drilling in Alaska. The reduction of dependency on other nations is always a good thing. This will drastically cut the cost of gas and jet fuel.
Q: What is your stance on the environment across the world? Do you believe in global warming/climate change? A: I believe there is no such thing as "global warming". The earth goes through changes like this regularly. Its a cycle that is not caused by man. Of course, the extra carbon being released accounts for about 2% of the warming of the earth, but that doesnt mean we should be freaking out over it. In a few years, the earth will simply start to cool again. The cycles have gone on for billions of years, before we were even on the earth to "hasten" it.
Q: Loungin’ is the most popular forum on Neoseeker, but has recently been accused of being on a downward spiral. What is the cause for this, and what would you recommend should be done to heal it? A: There is nothing wrong with Loungin. With each new mod that comes to loungin, a different style and way of going about this comes with him or her. There has never been a "golden age" for loungin. This is simply a place to chill, and right now thats what it is.
Q: What is your favorite forum on Neoseeker and why? A: The halo forum obviously. I love talking about halo and the forum regulars are amazing. I have had very little trouble with any of them, and have actually only ever had to ban one member.
Q: Which presidential candidate in the actual elections in the United States is your favorite and why? A: To be perfectly honest, I don't like any of them. I am very pro life and none of the candidates that have a chance are.
Q: What is your opinion on the banning of high-profile members, and is the current “private” policy a good one? Or should bans be announced publicly? A: Bans should not be announced publicly. First of all, it would be a waste of the super's time, and second, people just don't need to know. If you have a question about someones ban, then just PM the person who got banned.
Q: The war on terrorism, and more importantly, the War on Iraq, has been a well publicized “mistake” made by President Bush. What are your thoughts? A: I believe Bush was wrong to go into Iraq. However, we can't just pull out now. If we leave, Iraq will become a bigger mess then when it was before we came. Not only will there be mass chaos in Iraq, but it will spread to other countries as well.
Q: Why should the people on Neoseeker vote for you? A: The people of neoseeker should vote for me for several reasons. First of all, because I am responsible and organized. I am able to deal with stressful situations without snapping and flaming all who oppose me. I am nice to everybody. If anyone has a question I am always there to answer it for them. I am even kind and calm towards the occasional "trouble maker" in the halo forum. Being laid back and cool is more effective then freaking out. ------- Hawkeye: quote Hawkeye
Q: What is the primary theme of your campaign? A: I'm here to have fun. Face it, the winner doesn't get some sort of elitist powers. I think people want someone who they can see will just have a good time with it and make it fun for everyone involved, not someone overly serious who just drains the fun out of the thing.
Q: If you could change one thing on Neoseeker, what would it be and why? A: Well I won't really have the power to change anything, but I do think the moderating on the site has taken a turn for the worse over the years I've been here. Moderators showing favoritism, moderators who bend the rules whenever it suits them, all of that is BS. I have no clue how to stop it though. Maybe we need to implement a system where people stop promoting their friends. Shouldn't be hard to do.
Q: What is the most essential “part” of Neoseeker? A: the female parts. In all seriousness, the contributors and people who take the time to help others when they need it are all great. I appreciate people like that. As long as they're helping out for the simple purpose of helping out. The ones who do it for recognition (like crappy FAQ's just to propel yourself ot the top of the list) aren't needed.
Q: If you won the primary, how would you convince the voters you are better than the other four candidates? A: By not giving off this "I can accomplish more" horse crap that some people are trying to push on everyone. I've been ehre almost 6 years. People know me, that's that.
Q: Who is your biggest opposition in the race? A: Studly will be tough to overcome in the primary. As for the main race, my biggest competition will obviously be whoever PM's the most people begging them to go vote for them, as some have done already.
Q: Why did you sign up for this competition? A: I wanted to have a fun time, figured I can inject some lighthearted humor into it. Most the people in the ryancola party are a nice refresher from everyone else.
Q: Gas prices are off the wall, what would you do as a real president to remedy them? A: I don't know how much control the president has, but somehow putting a curb on the percentage that the gas companies themselves charge. They're making record profits right now. Then again, gas is still a lot cheaper in America than most other countries in the world, so I guess we all just need to deal with the fact that we're not screwing out the oil countries anymore. Well, when we're not bombing them.
Q: What is your stance on the environment across the world? Do you believe in global warming/climate change? A: Being a staunch supporter of our environment, I am fairly happy with the global direction the world is taking. I'm really pissed with America though. We have the most resources and the best opportunity to do something about it, but we choose instead to screw everything up and to continue advancing our own selfish maximizing profit goals. The rest of the world has overtaken this place in terms of looking after our environment, and most those countries don't have half the options we do. America needs to step up to the plate some time.
Q: Loungin’ is the most popular forum on Neoseeker, but has recently been accused of being on a downward spiral. What is the cause for this, and what would you recommend should be done to heal it? A: Someone else said it in the forum header: people who try to make jokes with every post. I do this a lot too, so I can't really complain without looking like a hypocrite. But it's the worst when people continue to make ridiculous threads that they know don't contribute anything, not even a laugh.
Q: What is your favorite forum on Neoseeker and why? A: Open Mic. Great community, great people, and they're not elitist pricks who will shun the new guy. I also like Sports and Movies because, well, I like to talk about sports and movies.
Q: Which presidential candidate in the actual elections in the United States is your favorite and why? A: Obama. I sit on the fence when it comes to the two leading parties, but our court system drastically requires a Democrat to win to maintain the balance of power in the Supreme Court. Another Republican will be disastrous considering the number of Democratic Judges on the verge of retirement. Clinton I just can't bring myself to like, and I think Obama will have a better chance of beating McCain. I have nothing against McCain though.
Q: What is your opinion on the banning of high-profile members, and is the current “private” policy a good one? Or should bans be announced publicly? A: If you're talking about the bans in sports, I think it's BS. Some bans, like Bug Lamp's, or Drew Gooden's, were warranted considering the way they lashed out after getting their ban. Others, like Bamman/M. Matthew's, are a complete joke. I don't care what the reasoning is, because I've seen people do worse and still sit around the site without even a warning. I don't see a need to announce bans publicly, but if people want to know, they deserve that right to know. How are we supposed to "follow rules" when we don't know which ones are getting people banned? Privacy is just a way to say "I banned him for my own reasons."
Q: The war on terrorism, and more importanty, the War on Iraq, has been a well publicized “mistake” made by President Bush. What are your thoughts? A: We did it, we're there, there's nothing we can do about it. I didn't support the war, but I don't support America pulling out now. It's too *bleep*ed up over there to just suddenly pull out and let them fend for themselves. We might as well accept that we're in there for the long haul. Pulling out would be a dick move on the part of America considering they caused all that.
Q: Why should the people on Neoseeker vote for you? A: Face it, how much will I change if I win this? Not much. I can handle the title, and I'm not going to be a prick to everyone if I win it either. Other candidates, I don't know if I could deal with the ego boost they'd get if they won.
Propts to everyone who read this. I hope the voters and those who weren't selected are at least having a fun time. After all, this thing is being done for everyone, not just thse members who got picked into the parties. ------- goldensteelix: quote goldensteelix
Q: What is the primary theme of your campaign? A: Gold = Winner; Gold = Golden; Golden = Me, thus by the transitive property, Winner = Me. Haha fo' sho'. Yes I just used "fo' sho'".
Q: If you could change one thing on Neoseeker, what would it be and why? A: I'd like to see a better setup for members upon registration. When first registering, they would be given the option to enter in titles or series of games that they are interested in, and upon Login, they'd be given the option to have games with the titles they typed, entered into their My.Neoforum List. Along with additions like the Site QA forum being immediately added as well.
Q: What is the most essential “part” of Neoseeker? A: Obviously it would have to be the community. Its what makes the site what it is. I don't care about what forum features the site has, without the community we have it isn't the same.
Q: If you won the primary, how would you convince the voters you are better than the other four candidates? A: Don't really intend to try and convince people to vote for me, although that comes off a bit badly. If people want to vote for me, awesome, but I'm not going to try and create a false image of myself or anything else in order to garner attention. I'll make the occasion crack/corny joke for the hell of it about voting for me, but thats it.
Q: Who is your biggest opposition in the race? A: Unfortunately I think two of the biggest heavyweights for the race are within my primary division, Studly and PL.
Q: Why did you sign up for this competition? A: Just for the hell of it. Fun to follow, let alone be involved, in stuff like this.
Q: Gas prices are off the wall, what would you do as a real president to remedy them? A: Alternative Fuel. I would say a price ceiling needs to be established, but that'd be a bit hard to accomplish. Perhaps adding a tax incentive based system for companies who proceed like Chrysler automotive are: Buy a car from them, and they'll give you a card to buy your gas on, and instead of buying it at 3.67 a gallon, it'll be marked down to 2.99, with them paying the 68 cents difference. They're doing this for the first three years, but this really doesn't fix the problem, just creates a short term solution. Alternative Fuels are the way to go. Massive Subsidies need to be handed out for such research.
Q: What is your stance on the environment across the world? Do you believe in global warming/climate change? A: Obviously some pollutants are harmful to the atmosphere and environment, but I'm more of the belief that the "drastic" change is more of a routine climate change for our planet. Its happened time and time before, and their is scientific backing to boot.
Q: Loungin’ is the most popular forum on Neoseeker, but has recently been accused of being on a downward spiral. What is the cause for this, and what would you recommend should be done to heal it? A: The cause is that its suddenly become the cool thing to bitch about the forum. Just like its the cool thing to try and make a joke at every given second. There isn't any real way to fix this in my opinion. Its a phase that'll pass. I personally think Loungin' looks good. Its a forum to sit back, bullshit and socialize, not discuss quantum physics.
Q: What is your favorite forum on Neoseeker and why? A: Uh, pretty hard to narrow it down to one. Sports immediately comes to mind, but the community there has pretty much diminished. The Fashion forum is a nice place to just hang back since I can't think of a particular member that would be a nuisance. Maybe Tumbles with his off the wall comments, but its like a dog with three legs, you can't help but love him haha.
Q: Which presidential candidate in the actual elections in the United States is your favorite and why? A: Ron Paul. Clinton doesn't have any real experience to be in the White House, and if you take away her breasts and hand her a penis, she would be getting crushed in the polls. Its the allure of a female candidate. I would like to see a female candidate one day, but not her. I fear that she will put a bad taste in the voters mouth if shes elected, and then getting another woman in there anytime soon is going to be impossible. Besides, I don't want to even think of bearing the toll her health care policies and such. Clinton will likely be a disaster. Just because our economy boomed during Slick Willy's days in office, doesn't mean it will for her either.
Definitely don't want Obama in office either. The guy promises and preaches change, but I've went to a few of his rallies, one specifically up here at Penn State, and he just doesn't say what he plans on doing to change for the better. All he does is talk the talk, and I see nothing about him being able to walk the walk. To be quite frank though, ever since I heard he wanted to give welfare to anyone and everyone.
Obama supports giving welfare to Illegal Immigrants and African Refugees. He also wants to give Social Security to Illegal Immigrants.
I'm sorry, but I don't feel like paying more taxes so some slob can ride free on their ass for years on end. I bust my ass working and going to school, just trying to stay afloat, I don't need to help support someone who can't be bothered to become a legal citizen. I can't understand why he (Obama) wants to do this. Yeah its a nice gesture, but in the end, I want mine. I bust my ass for me, not some alien dashing across the border from Mexico.
Anyways, I don't really care for McCain anyway, but just like it was with Bush and Kerry, I'd vote for him over the other two democrats, just because in my eyes he is the lesser of two people. Unfortunately its a three horse race between McCain, Obama, and Clinton, and I can't stand any of them. Puts a bad taste in my mouth for my first presidential vote.
Q: What is your opinion on the banning of high-profile members, and is the current “private” policy a good one? Or should bans be announced publicly? A: Private, depending on the situation. Honestly I don't see why we need to have an announcement that MemberX233 got permanently banned. The Complaints forum being made private was one of the best ideas the site has done lately. That thing was like a Neoseeker Scandal Magazine. Public Announcements are essentially just gossip. No member is going to benefit from knowing why a certain member got permanently banned. That said, sometimes (in my belief) forum ban listings can deter some members from performing similar actions. Its basically a case-by-case scenario.
Q: The war on terrorism, and more importantly, the War on Iraq, has been a well publicized “mistake” made by President Bush. What are your thoughts? A: It was necessary in the first place, because like many members on the site know, a bully won't leave you alone if you just say "Stop it!". You have to walk up to him and punch him right smack dab in the middle of his *bleep*ing face.
Unfortunately our mission has seemingly changed, and it doesn't appear to be remedied anytime soon. I have a brother overseas and a few friends so my opinion is obviously biased but at this point I'd rather just "pull out" (even though that won't ever be fully done) and move on. Terrorists are everywhere and camping over in Iraq isn't going to stop them. They're quite capable of moving around. That said I don't think there is going to be any good way to get out of this war. Its a lose-lose situation.
Q: Why should the people on Neoseeker vote for you? A: Because I'm the underdog, and who doesn't love a good underdog? ------- SlangX: quote SlangX
Q: What is the primary theme of your campaign? A: Elitism through join dates, and having a good time.
Q: If you could change one thing on Neoseeker, what would it be and why? A: The "Biography" section should read as "Auto-biography", and it's been eating away at me for over six years now.
Q: What is the most essential “part” of Neoseeker? A: Communities which run on the creativity, strength, and integrity of the members. Not the guy(s) sitting in the top-right of the screen who's under the assumption that setting up twenty variations of "Guess that Character" is building the community up to something worthwhile. Challenge yourself, challenge the forums, making something cool that hasn't been done before. Look at me, I broke forums to make them look decent, and now every second high-activity board is stocked up to the tits in CSS and Crayola-coloring. Some will argue that it's a terrible thing, and as a born-again forum traditionalist, I'd have to agree.
Q: If you won the primary, how would you convince the voters you are better than the other four candidates? A: I'm myself. I'm not willing to listen to your opinions, because you're probably fourteen years-old, and winning an election in Loungin' doesn't entitle me to any additional powers or means to accomplish something.
Q: Who is your biggest opposition in the race? A: Fifth Column, simply for being in cahoots with that treacherous swine, Dudeguy. I know it was one ex-TP moderator or the other, but my wounds need licking.
Q: Why did you sign up for this competition? A: Initially the idea was to bring myself back from the dead, aka start posting around once again. My heyday has long since passed, and I'm a bit of a ghost around the site these days, so I said to myself, I said: "Self. Let's bring ourselves up from the rubble and see if we can't bring in a few votes from the older crew, the crew who we grew up posting with. The votes towards us certainly won't be coming from the newer crop, no sir.
Q: Gas prices are off the wall, what would you do as a real president to remedy them? A: Coal liquification, as pioneered by the Chinese at the moment. Mmmhmm.
Q: What is your stance on the environment across the world? Do you believe in global warming/climate change? A: It's difficult to ignore, really. Our current Prime Minister is a pouting failure, who's completely against the Kyoto Protocol and retaining Canada's responsibilities within it. Shame, really. I'm impressed by Alberta's expansion of wind power however, in such a greenhouse gas emission-high province. The spinning blades appeal to my ADD, and they're plenty practical, so let's get more of those going.
Q: Loungin’ is the most popular forum on Neoseeker, but has recently been accused of being on a downward spiral. What is the cause for this, and what would you recommend should be done to heal it? A: It's been accused of such since its creation. The cause is a growing community, and YES, it does have a community. Not a very noteworthy one, but a community nonetheless (most of you, aren't funny, despite what mom tells you). It needs no quick fix-healing, nor is it possible with the influx of new members each week, but a band-aid would suffice. Of course I'm speaking of a time machine, which would bring us back to 02' where we took care of our own. Boy did we.
Q: What is your favorite forum on Neoseeker and why? A: This is a tough one to have a go at, considering I simply float around the site with no attachment to any community to speak of. I'm going to go with the entire NES category actually, because those games are the love of my life at the moment, and just browsing around there inspires me to pick up a few titles and feel significantly younger again. Not a care in the world, just the swoosh of Link's sword as he navigates a 2-D dungeon. Oh yes, I went there. "The Adventures of Link" bitches, and I don't care who I offend by bringing up such a colossal failure (commercially) of a game.
Q: Which presidential candidate in the actual elections in the United States is your favorite and why? A: I'll have to disappoint on this one, but I don't follow American politics too closely up here in my Canadian igloo. I happen to own a bright green shirt with a black fist and lettering which says: "OBAMA says knock you out", but I can't say I know too much about the guy or his opposition, sorry.
Q: What is your opinion on the banning of high-profile members, and is the current “private” policy a good one? Or should bans be announced publicly? A: Permanent bans on high-profile members are too infrequent to warrant a forum-wide list posted up for all to see, and really, what would it accomplish? More gossip fodder for nosy-parkers (you know who you are!) to spread thick around the site? Everybody knows that ban lists have been used since the site's birth, and they're little more than new guys going through the motions of moderating, rather than something that's actually practical.
Q: The war on terrorism, and more importantly, the War on Iraq, has been a well publicized “mistake” made by President Bush. What are your thoughts? A: Ridiculous and tragic, and nothing else needs to be said that isn't glaringly obvious. I'll leav
