Oh, come on, Deis. You know me better than that.

Now Wolfenstein, if it really bothered you that much, then I'm sorry it happened.

re: Neoseeker Presidential Elections 2008

  • Ban-bypassing.
I believe that a person can in fact, change his/her attitude, but just because someone has, doesn't mean he/she no longer has to take full responsibility for his/her past actions. If a person believes that he/she has changed and will no longer commit to such mistakes, then the member can contact the Moderator to lift the ban, or a reductions. Either one will be fine, but if there is a case that he/she does not do that, and no longer shows the attitude he/she once had, then the member will be watched carefully. This doesn't mean anyone can just bypass and just get their attitudes straight, no, this will only be an exception when the member has at least committed to a large portion of his/her ban. Meaning, if a member got banned for flaming or spamming and received a 20 day ban, but then shows up about 10-15 days later with a different attitude, then he/she will be watched. If this person no longer shows past behavior, then he/she will not be bothered till he/she has made a mistake. Otherwise, if his/her past attitude continues, then the member will be immediately contacted and possibly receive a harsher penalty.

  • Freedom of the Press.
I don't believe threads like these are necessary anywhere in Neoseeker, but if there is a time that it resolves to this occasion, then I see no harm if it's done peacefully. This clearly means that the member in question can't be completely flamed, instead whoever is running the protest will be allowed to protest in a peaceful manner. I see no problem if the protester does it peacefully, what I do have a problem with, is the members that might take it personally and result to flaming or the like. Those individuals will be taken care of because they aren't peacefully protesting like the original protester.

  • Intellectual Threads
This is a rather grayish area that all members have a different opinion towards the situation. Loungin' is supposed to be a forum where the discussions are more relaxed, while Intellectual Exchanges promotes a more mature environment. There is certainly no problem with Loungin' having a few Mature Threads going on around. This in fact should be something the thread creator should consider. He/she has to decided whether they rather have their mature thread in Loungin' or IE. Loungin' where he/she'll get the most replies, but hardly any reasonable replies, or in IE, where he/she'll hardly get replies, but more replies that have quality because of it's environment. There is nothing wrong with having a good discussion in Loungin', it doesn't affect neither forum at all.

  • Post Counts
Post counts do not indicate anything. All it is is a count for your posts. That's it, nothing more. I definitely discourage any member promoting the idea that a higher post count makes you cooler or a more respectful member. A higher post count defines nothing but how many post you have. Same with Join Dates. They define nothing but when you joined. Neither defines what kind of member you are, what rather defines you is you attitude and the character that you show through your posts. I don't believe we should take away some features that other members abuse. Members that abuse it, will be taken care of accordingly.

  • Complaints Forum
This is another grayish area, but in my opinion, I rather have the Complaints Forum be a private forum where only the people that are involved in the situation can negotiate. There is really no need for anyone out there to poke their noses where it's not needed, and we've all seen what happened when the forum was public. Everyone felt they needed to voice their opinion when it wasn't needed. How it's been dealt now is more efficient than it was when the forum was public.

  • Age Restrictions and Inappropriate Content
Although Neoseeker is meant for a teenage atmosphere, nearly anyone can sign-up as long as, if they're 13 years old or younger, their parents are aware as it states in the Privacy Policy. Not only that, but the Policy states that Neoseeker is targeted towards an adult audience. Which certainly means that some adult content may be floating around the site, such as curse words, or sexual avatars/banners. Of course, the site has evolved through the years and we now have kids roaming through the boards, but those kids should be aware that their parents need their consent to roam the site. Throwing the excuse of "But think of the many kids that roam the site!" holds no value whatsoever because of the Privacy Policy statement. Parents should be aware of their children roaming Neoseeker and they should also be aware of the things that Neoseeker can in fact hold. Another thing that comes into mind is younger members visint forums where they know more older members roam. If this is the case, then the younger members should expect some content that is not appropriate for their ages. If they argue that their parents won't let them visit Neoseeker because some member has a sexual banner, well, too bad. You should have been aware. Now, if an older member decided to roam a forum where the target audience is for younger member, such as Pokemon or the like, then that older member has to respect the guidelines towards the younger audience. Meaning they can't have a sexual banner show up in a Pokemon forum because that's not deemed appropriate for that forum. Although this is a grayish area, those are my opinions toward this topic, there should be no age restrictions and restrictions towards what members can or cannot use because of younger members. Parents should be aware, and it's the younger member's responsibility to let their parents know, not Neoseeker or anyone else.

Of course, Redemption is working on a more solid solution at the moment, and I clearly promote what he's doing since this is such a gray area.

I think Rome actually knew that you were joking, he was just trying to keep his "nice guy" reputation and cover all the bases.

Actually, I thought he might have said it. I mean, I could see myself using a ban threat for a simple joke just as I could Stitch.

Or are you joking too? Grr, confusion.

re: Neoseeker Presidential Elections 2008

  • Ban-bypassing:
Someone bypassing a ban is taking a calculated risk in doing so. If they get caught, they are given a more severe punishment than the one they initially received. If they get away with it, then fine. There's no room to complain for being banned harshly when caught bypassing a pre-existing ban, and that's all there is to it.

  • Freedom of the Press:
This is a strange question, primarily because there really is no such thing as "freedom of the press" on Neoseeker. There are certain topics that really aren't suitable for discussion, and those include threads asking questions about members bans, etc. I don't like the SNAPShots thread at all, primarily because it can only go so long before everyone's been recycled three times over and it gets repetitive. Not only that, but the whole "play nice or don't play at all" attitude can be frustrating at times. Sometimes people just need to be honest.

  • Intellectual Threads:
There's no reason you can't have Intellectual Discussion threads in Loungin', but each person has to be aware of where they're posting before they get concerned over the responses they're going to get. I'd say that this particular case is different from Music or Movie specific threads because of the vagueness of the IE forum's purpose. There are definite boundaries for what is and isn't music, but the same can't be said for Intellectual Exchanges. As a result, there should be some crossover between IE and Loungin' allowed.

  • Post Counts:
Who cares about post counts that much? They're nice for history, but I don't place a whole lot of weight in someone's post count as a judge of character and I can't imagine many others do either. Your worth on this site isn't determined by the amount of posts under your name.

  • Complaints Forum:
Better as it is now. I saw plenty of threads go astray when the forum was open to members and it wasn't helping anyone. I do believe that the guidelines should be more easily visible for members looking to make a complaint in the RFS forum, however.

  • Age Restrictions and Inappropriate Content:
There isn't much we can do about age restrictions, and I'm not wholly bothered by the younger members as long as they realize that the world isn't meant to conform to their ideals of good and bad. I think that Redemption has realized that you can't prevent younger kids from visiting the site and he's taking note of some good measurements to prevent younger members from complaining about inappropriate content. Having a "flag" feature on Avatars and Banners is a good start.

Excuse me for not participating or voting, but is it too late to vote who you think deserves to be the Neoseeker President or not? I'm a bit confused here.

There has not been any voting yet. Right now, we are in the campaigning process, so you haven't missed out on voting or anything. When it's time to vote, everyone interested will know.

I'm wondering if we even need the debate. Anyone taking this "seriously" has already provided a surplus of information, and we have all debated and talked with each other in this thread. If Deis keeps asking more great questions, then we should be set, and ryan wouldn't have to stress or plan anything.
