There's also no rule banning people from shamelessly advertising Clinton and Obama outside of designated areas. Big difference, I'd say.

I'm not talking about signatures. I'm speaking of posts filled with "VOTE FOR ROME!" all over the site. If I was speaking of signatures in particular, I would have said so or made no mention of it at all because I'm aware that it isn't a violation of any rules.
Haven't actually seen any of those - probably wasn't paying enough attention.

re: Neoseeker Presidential Elections 2008

Please, Romeo, get off your high horse. If I'm following your campaign accurately, you shamelessly sent out numerous private messages to members around the site asking for their support. Surely that's the same thing, though more direct and out of the public eye.

And yeah, I did it, too, after seeing that, apparently, it was okay to do so. Now everyone's pointing the finger this way, just because my thread looks the fanciest? Or what's the scoop?

Not to mention your affection for Daedric's campaign displayed in the previous thread, who I should mention, started a thread in a forum he moderates.
At least Synik and I had to give back to the community a little before we got to create ours.

@Yugio » again, please point out the 'hypocrisy' of what we're doing, considering we're being called out on it by people doing the very same thing. How exactly do you guys plan to show that you care about the people?

How is anyone here going about that? No one's getting any sort of promotion for this. We're already making contributions around the site, helping out where we can, while the other candidates masquerade empty promises as if they'll actually have some sort of motivational boost upon being elected Neo President.
The fact is, Rome can say he wants to focus on injecting life into the Education forum, and you can all eat that up like a plate of warm snickerdoodles, but he can't do anymore in the future than he's already doing, and he certainly can't do it single-handedly.
Shit, I've posted there a bit, but the lack of any real discussion has frankly turned me away.
Why, then, do I not try to create new threads? Because it's an education forum on an internet gaming-based message board. The irony is dripping thick.
I care about education in the real world, but I don't see how much discussion can be truly sparked by it here.

I believe some shameless advertising is in order. Help Snowfox and myself overtake Rome in the Neo Elections.

Please, people are advertising all over the damn place and your campaign is absolutely no different Rome. Don't even act like you're taking the high ground when you have people advertising all over the site. If anything, his thread is far less of a violation of the rules because it's restricted to a single forum and not spread throughout the site with people posting their shameless advertisements everywhere.
Signatures =/= posting.

Garkaz, on the other hand...he's posting. And pm's, although not so public, can cause the same amount of annoyance.

Speaking of posting, a few candidates have failed to clarify their positions on the issues I raised a few pages back - notably the Hawkeye/Yugio team. I cba to come up with any more right now.

Did I do something wrong >_>

That's a thread for Snowfox and Synik...not Rome.

If you don't see the problem there, go back and read the other posts. Please.

Um, no, it doesn't. I'm pretty sure I was talking about Rome's party, as it was obvious that the debate for the past four or five pages was over the post you're specifically referring to.

Sorry, Garkaz didn't see your post.

I just happened to remember seeing a 'vote 4 Garkaz' at the bottom of a post somewhere. The fact that I remembered it probably indicates that your PR campaign is successful.

Im talking about the Advertisements over the sites, as well as the Shameless ones. Although not exactly rome, i didn't think it really mattered if it had to say one member only, its the same point that people are advertising stuff over the site.

Well the thing is you weren't actually summing up any point I made. Everyone is well aware of the thread that sd and Synik have in G&A. Deis was specifically saying that she didn't see anyone advertising Rome outside her their signatures. I'm saying that people have. That's all; no need for clarification.

But there is still a notable similarity in how people are or are not part of a campaign.

I'm not on a high horse. There isn't anything wrong in going to some people that you know or see often and asking for their support. Clearly, that has to be done on some level. No one can easily conduct their campaigns in the forums alone. They'd need to take to PM or MSN with whoever's interested. I tried at least to ask help from people who I pretty much knew wanted to help me, and if they didn't I told them that it was their choice not to and it was fine.

Now I don't see why it suddenly matters that I said I wanted to help the Education forum. I've been saying that for a long time now. A lot of tried at one point, but it didn't work. I've been thinking of how to try again.

@ Fatal Error: I've seen people say "Vote Rome '08" in forum posts. I haven't asked them to do that. You can't blame me if they tag that at the end of some Loungin' post or one in a GD.

Considering it's the same five or six people, I'm pretty sure you're more than capable of telling them to stop.

I shouldn't have to. It's their choice to post about me or not. I'm not their boss.

Now I'll properly dismiss myself, as I'll probably be caught up in this evening's business.

I'm pretty astonished to find such a debate taking place over something so childish.

Well, after seeing the way many of you have acted, it's at least narrowed down who I'd vote for.

re: Neoseeker Presidential Elections 2008

@Rome » I'm bringing that up because I'm tired of seeing campaigns promising shit that isn't going to happen. If you have any intentions of helping the education forum, you're going to do it actively, as you have been. Sporting it as part of your campaign and saying it's one of your goals as president is what I'm bothered by. People read that and the naive ones gobble it right up, but the informed members know that there's nothing you'll be able to do then that you can't do now.
You realize it, everyone running realizes it, and members watching this thread know it just as well.

That's why we're not making any promises, we're not regarding what we can do now as things we can do as President/VP, and we're not withholding our abilities for the sake of gaining votes.

===------
What difference is it if you asked them to do that or not? If I hadn't posted that thread in G&A, but another member had, would we be getting any heat for it? Probably so, the same way I'm calling out Minirizzle after a three page argument this morning, and seeing that Trend and Orez went and created threads for him.
Did he have a say in it? There's no documented proof, but that doesn't mean a thing. I don't see him asking the mods to shut them down, either.
