First Annual Neoseeker Raffle 2008 - Signups

Welcome, everyone, to the item registration period of Neo Raffle '08!

What exactly is this?

Members of Neoseeker (as well as members of the staff ) will be allowed to place items up as prizes. Tickets will be for sale for Neoseeker posts and the winner will be randomly drawn. You can buy tickets for each individual item. Each item will have its own ticket pool. No longer will people with the most posts be shoo-in for all of the items; they'll only have a higher chance than people with less posts than themselves. You can buy as many tickets as you want, given you don't go over your post count.

For you traditionalists that prefer the auction style of the slave auctions, we're also allowing you to place your item up for auction instead of allowing people to just buy raffle tickets.

What sort of items can we sell?

You can get as creative as you wish. All we will ask is that you stay within the boundaries of Neoseeker's rules and don't do anything that is going to cause a huge disruption around Neoseeker. If you're good at graphics or web design, offer to make a custom signature or NeoHome design. If you are a writer, offer to insert the winning user into one of your stories. If you like traditional "neo slave auctions" fun, feel free to put your signature space up for raffle or auction. Note that we will not set up limitations for categories of things that you can put up, but we do have the right to deny any item.

Neo Slave Auctions Fun? How far can I go?

You can offer the rights to your signature, avatar, custom title, profile, and NeoHome. You may not offer to sign guestbooks, send PMs, or modify the style of your Neoseeker posts in any way. However, if you do plan on doing something like this, be sure to include how long you will keep the stuff up in the item description. You can also just put "my services as a neo-slave" as the title, and people will know that it includes sig, avatar, custom title, profile, and neohome.

How will auctions work?

It's pretty straightforward, just like a traditional auction. You can outbid each other using your posts and whoever has the highest bid at the end wins the item.

How will raffles work?

Everyone who buys tickets for a particular item will be submitted into a database and a winner (or winners if there's more than one of the item) will be randomly selected at the end of the week. Tickets will cost a predetermined amount of post, each item having a different price.

Wait, where do my posts go?

Nowhere. The only thing that happens when you buy something is your posts no longer being available for you to buy other things with.

How do I buy things?

With your Neoseeker posts. To answer a very commonly asked question, no, the posts are not actually subtracted from your account after you use them. But you can not submit bids/buy tickets amounting to higher than your total posts. Please do try to keep track of this.

When will this happen?

Signups will last until Monday, January 7th and at that point tickets will be available. They will be for sale until Sunday, January 16th at which point, winners will be randomly drawn and announced.

How do I sign up?

To sign up to raffle off an item, simply copy and paste this form into a post:

Note that while we do give you the option to give us a suggested price if you're raffling off an item, we reserve the right to set it at any amount we feel is appropriate.

Here is a rough ticket price rubric:

Anything by a NeoStaff/Super: 400-600
Forum Header/Footer: 200
Graphic/Coding Services: 200
Any Real Life Item: 400-600
"Neo-Slave": 50 (or less if you specify)

This is not concrete but it's pretty close to what everything will be.

Can I use alternate accounts for the raffle?

Yes, you can. However, we need to know before the raffle starts if you're planning on doing so, so send a PM to this account before item registration ends so we check to make sure it's actually you on all your accounts and record it in our system. Anyone that decides to use an alternate account during the ticket purchasing period will be overlooked.

What if I think it's a good idea to abuse the raffle?

You should probably think again because you'll be banned from Loungin' until the auction is over on January 16th. Abuse includes posting up items that are completely ridiculous (meaning either it's unrealistic or you have no intention of carrying it out) and anything else that is going to give us a hard time.

What if I have another question?

If you have a question, you can either send a PM to this account or post it here. Kjgmusic and Avalith, the raffle coordinators, will be browsing through the thread regularly to keep everything up to date, so they'll see your question and respond to you once they can. They may reply using this account, or they may reply using their main accounts. They are listed here so you may recognize them as event staff in the event they post in this thread.
