I'm stuck at the start of level 15 (the "Infernal Machine" level, back in the Tower of Babel.)
After the intro, I go forward, and climb down the ladder to the bottom of the shaft. At this
point, I assume I'm supposed to climb up into the room that's on the other side of the shaft
from the ladder. It looks like a trivial jump, but Indy simply refuses to climb up into the next
room.

Has anyone seen this behaviour? Any tips, workarounds, or saved games?

I too am seeing this problem - on 2 different copies(!) of the game! Have also tried installing on 2 different machine with the same results!!

It looks like there should be a block at the bottom of the shaft - but there is nothing! Has anyone got a saved game of Indy on the unobtainable ledge!?!?!

Am also having this problem, how did you get over it???

Hi, I was freaking out myself over this. (I answered this question somewhere else on this forum too, but hey this is a really BAD problem) I found somewhere else that you had to reinstall the game by the standard set up, not storing the complete works on your computer. You can opt to leave your saved game files and things on your hard drive though, they still work fine. Then you might also have to replay the previous level, or load in a savegame near the end and just complete it, so as to restart the Infernal Machine level. Then when you climb down the ladder there should be an elevator floor which wasn't there before, on the same level as that coffin shaped hole. It worked for me! Although it might not necessarily be a standard installation which is needed, I'm not sure of the logic behind it, maybe just completing Nub's Tomb again might be enough... but I tried it and it worked fine. So rest assured that this wasn't your fault after all, it was the game! Hooray! Good luck!

I agree with you. I have the same problem and it is very strange. Perhaps I did something wrong in the previous level?

Anyway...I solved the problem by fetching an new START_15_MACHINE.nds on internet. Here is were you can find it: ftp://ftp.soulianis.com/archive/indy/start/

By using this file instead, all of a sudden there is a floor, and I can continue. I still do not understand the reason why the problem occur?

Thx for all the advice, I was getting the same problem and was quite upset at prospects of not being able to continue. I'm so absolutely grateful having found these tips. Can't wait to try them out.
