Recruiting help

I am posting this message in search of recruiting help on Dynasty mode. I won a national championship with The University of Houstin (yea, you heard me right!) I am having a hard time recruiting quality players and I am wondering if there is some sort of formula, or any kind of stratagy in doing this, or a card that helps with it. I can basically beat any team with the crappiest players, but lets face it, I can't stay lucky all the time. Thanx.

A good thing to do when you start off, is first look at the interested players first. They will most likely be the ones that sign with you. They will probably make up 75% of the signings if you look into them. Second of all, when you are thinking about offering a scholarship to a player, press SELECT when his name is highlighted, then look at the INTEREST LEVEL. It will say: VERY HIGH, HIGH, AVERAGE, LOW, or VERY LOW. The players that have a VERY HIGH or HIGH will have a better chance of signing than the others. I always look for those first. It always helps to take a chance on the top players with your extra scholarship points though!

The guy who talked about looking at the players who are interested in your school is correct, also it does take about 2 years to get the players you want. I am playing with Wyome(spelling) and i now basically have a team of 4 and 5 star players, but i am also in my 4th season. Another thing to consider in recruiting is that if you cant stand it and their is one position that you really want to fill with a 5 star guy and none of them are interested in you, then if you are going to go after one, you need to find the guy that is nearest to your school. In the upper part of the recruiting screen it tells you where the player is from and if you are in Georgia, then you would want to get players frim Georgia,AL,FL,NC,SC,TN etc. That is just a few pointers. Also do not just go after 5star players, build your team up with 4 star and then when you are real good go after the 5star it works.

I've noticed when i've been playing that you recruit your players who have some interest in your school the 1st 4 weeks. Then in week 5, whatever extra scholarships you have use them on 4 star players (usually the 5 star remaining players don't pan out to come to your school). This has happened to me with different schools.

As Washington State, I pulled a 4 Star out of the state of Kentucky (he was my highest recruit that year).

I am currently playing with Colorado, in my third year, with two bowl wins (one of which was a nat'l title), a heisman running back (along with two contenders), and one of the most high powered offense on the game...I still can't get the high rated players at the positions that I want. I need some good CB's and a monster of a FS. I have all kinds of 5 star recruits interested in various offensive positions and even on my d-line, but I can't get anyone better than 4 star in my secondary. Well I take that back, I had one my second year (1st dynasty year) but he was a juco transfer that was a senior and I couldn't redshirt him. What can I do? I have a number one ranked offense and my pass defense it like 102nd. Somebody please help me. Oh by the way I also have the #1 run defense.

A really good thing to do is to look at those 'meaningless' stats like GPA, bench press, leg press, and 40 time when you push the select button. I've made some 1 star teams into contenders in one offseason by recruiting interested 1 and 2 star players. There are some wideouts and corners at 1 star level with 4.2-4.4 speed. This translates into about 85-93 on the game. After a few years I had 1 star recruits leaving Temple in their junior seasons. High GPA means high awareness, which you need that and strength for your linemen.

Building a 1 star program this way can easily get you to a bowl game in your second season on Heisman if you didn't make one in the first season. I've found that high level recruits don't normally come to the poor programs, and if you spend so many points trying to get them 1 or 2 injuries can ruin a season. Low-level recruits are always better than walk-ons, and getting a bunch of 1 and 2 star players will give you a deep team that can challenge for a decade even with injuries. I'm not saying don't go after higher prospects, just equate your prestige level before you do. I have taken 3 and 4 star players that choose my school as their first choice.
