I'm not sure what the s/f is based off of. I think it has to do with the size of the work unit because others seem to be getting varied sizes of WUs and thus far I've only gotten 5000 with a consistent 21s/frame.
Not arguing, because I don't know for sure either. First of all, I wasn't bragging about my 5s/frame speed. I was trying to make the point that each WU can be comparable to a Prime95 'WU'. You can get them using different FFT sizes and different amounts of RAM, which ends with different times per 'unit'. I just think that this is the same way.

My WU is also 5000 frames, just like yours. I am getting 5s/frame. You are getting in the 20's. Believe me when I say I don't mean that like my s754/single channel RAM/stock 2.4ghz/800mhz HT is faster than the more common s939/dual channel RAM/overclocked to the sky/1000+HT that you and others have.

Really, it just erked me when I saw something about a P4 and s/frame.

WTF AM I TALKING ABOUT. DRUNK/SMOKE TALK.

EDIT: Tell me if this makes sense. I want to know in the morning, lol.

A1~ I wasn't challenging your statement, I was just making one of my own. If we can figure out what causes the faster folding that would be better for everyone. Obviously, it isn't architecture so it must be the WU itself. What the circumstances are is my question.

re: Folding @ Home

I've got about 7 hours left on my 20,000 frame fold, only 800 more to go. Right now its showing I'm doing 43/s frame. I better get a hell of a lot of points for this

I'm not sure how it does it. its a bit confusing.

re: Folding @ Home

The larger work units have smaller frames. That is why they run faster. The smaller work units have larger frames. 50,000 WU is going at about 6 s/f for me, while a 5000 one went at about 30 s/f maybe more.

See, that's what I'm saying, I had the opposite of what you are experiencing. My 5000 WU is hitting 5s/frame, while a larger one was hitting 14s/frame for me. I think it doesn't matter about the size, it's just that different tests are using different sizes of cache and RAM, and obviously there are other differences than that.

I have this running on windows vista, and it dosnt seem to be working very well. It says its going to take 99 days to run 5,000 frames, and its been running for about 2 days straight now.

re: Folding @ Home

Usually, for me anyways, it starts with an absurd number of days until completion, and then it rounds of rather quickly to about a day and a half.

Seems as if Vista doesn't like the program at all. Are you still partitioned with XP, or did your father get you some good prices on Vista?

re: Folding @ Home

I have my RAID setup partitioned (probably too much) out to allow for several operating systems. I just have XP home, and I think its RC2 copy of vista premium installed.

He's going to try and find out prices for vista and office 2007 tomorrow.

I just joined up- I think I'm going to have dual instances running- the GPU version on my x1900xt and the regular version if that works.

That GPU client is crazy fast- I've gotten 1155 WU done in the 10 hours since I've joined.

I wish they would add Nvidia GPU's to that client.

I'm only on W/U number 3
