That's got to hurt. All those hours/days/weeks/months wasted!!
Haha. Nah, usually if it's gonna screw up, it does it within the first 4-5 minutes.

re: Folding @ Home

It takes a while for it to level out and give you a proper finish time. I saw one of my computer show it was going to take about 14 months to finish. On the average computer, it takes about 15 hours or so.

re: Folding @ Home

Is there a way to get it to run on 1 core? Because I have a dual core and I figure it'd be handier.

Wow, looks like this is getting more popular. Awesome, guys. A lot of new people, already.
I'm in too!

-Question: When you start running the F@H program does it make use of your cpu and gpu at the same time. If not how do you get it to use the gpu at the same time?

re: Folding @ Home

There are different clients to use. The CPU client and the GPU client.

Now, you might be able to run them both at the same time, but I'm not sure. Actually, the GPU client practically makes your computer unusable. At least it does on my x1950PRO.

There are only a select few GPU's that are supported at the moment. What is your GPU? For some reason, I'm thinking you have an x1950PRO, now, but I am probably mistaken.

re: Folding @ Home

I have the exact same as you have (Pro), the ASUS variant too. Do you think it's the drivers that are making it unstable?

Nah. It's just putting a huge load on the GPU, so when you want it to do something, scroll down, for example, the GPU will basically think "OH YEAH!!! I actually have to display things!!!" and will lead to a bit of lag.

re: Folding @ Home

On the CPU version you can set what percent of the idle processor you want it to use; is there something like that for the GPU version? You can probably set it to around 90% and not notice much.

re: Folding @ Home

I have a question. I am about to format my computer, but I already have the Folding@Home program on my PC. o I have to remove it in a "special way" to recover my username and everything "I have done with it"?
Also, does it work with Windows Vista?

re: Folding @ Home

AndyDS, if I was you, I would just finish up your current Work Unit. Then reformat. After that, just remember your name you used, and use the same team number, and you won't lose any of your scores as far as the ranking list goes.

Goodness, I am so ignorant for this thing.
How will I know that my current work unit is done?
