	Log in to remove this advertisement I know, I know. Tired seeing threads like this, but there's no forum or thread stickied (that I know of) for asking things like this. And they always tell me to go around here to these questions, so here's the deal. My friend got a financial aid check in the mail for quite a bit of money, and he's wanting to get a laptop computer, the budget, as I said, is around $1,700. I broke him from Dells, so here's what I've been looking at. They look good to me, but then again I don't know as much as some of you may. 	The main thing we need to know is what will it be used for? There will be a lot of difference between a gaming laptop, and a laptop used just for the internet. The first laptop has a faster processor, but the second has an HD-DVD rom, and 20gigs more harddrive space. they each have the same size monitor, and same ammount of ram. Actualy, I've heard good things about dell laptops. we used to have one untill it broke, and we replaced it with an Acer AMD laptop. I liked the acer better though. -------------------

	Probably leaning more toward gaming, he doesn't have a working desktop at home, so he's basicly replacing it with this one. 	The processors are just about exactly the same. The only difference is the clock speed, which is a very small difference in itself. Depending on the price, I would go with the bottom choice, unless the other has more extras and you feel it is worth it. And for the gaming side of things, I dont think either gfx card has much over the other. ------------------- Union Pride

	We went for something similar to the first choice, a bit and bought directly off ibuypower.com, had the customize it so where it has a bit more power to it. Plus it was abour a hundred dollars cheaper, free shipping, and came with a free game.
