	Log in to remove this sponsored message Hey all, i have recently come into possession of a old desktop that was a gaming machine back in its prime. It's from the year 2007 as far as i can remember and needs a bit of upgrading as far as i can tell to get it up to a decent standard for today. My plan is to use the desktop for gaming and high end video work (doing game design at university). It's current specs are this: CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz RAM - DDR2 dual channel and currently has 2 gig (space for 4 ram modules) Motherboard - Intel DQ45CB Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT with 512mb OS - Vista 32 bit Now im fairly new to upgrading computers, but i have the know - how on the installation process its just getting the compatibility of the parts that i am struggling greatly with. To be honest im even contemplating just going to a shop and asking the guys there if its worth upgrading or whether it will cost too much, cause i just cant tell. Basically, I want some help about upgrading this old computer. I need to know firstly whether its even worth upgrading, and secondly what my best bet would be for upgrading. (parts, what i need to upgrade first, etc) If it helps i have a .txt file that lists everything in my computer that i gathered from CPU-Z. Im also based in Australia, for website price purposes. 	Oh and the types of games i plan to run on it are ranging from DOTA 2, WOW, various indie titles and possibly future high end titles. (i'd really like it to have the capacity to be upgradable easily in the future or at least the capacity to run stuff that may come out in the future) I should also add that I dont really want to spend any more than 500 dollars, as I may as well just buy a new one then, as i can get a decent one from the Australian website umart for about 700. (i dont mind getting parts slowly though, just means waiting for weekly paychecks etc) ill be keeping a close eye on this thread though so ill reply and adjust to everyones replies

	Alright, here's the harsh reality of the situation. The parts are too old for any upgrades to be meaningful, since the IT industry has moved on a LOT since 2007. Even in 2007, it was a low end gaming rig. If it was a high end, we might've been able to do something. 500 dollars isn't exactly enough to get a good gaming rig either (a good graphics card will set you back $300-400 AUD). You could get a decent computer for daily use and internet browsing with that money though. The cheapest option for you right now is to actually buy parts to build yourself a new computer. 	That's a socket 775 pc, sadly, support for that socket is dead. You'll do a completely new build like crusad3r said ------------------- ...

	thats bad to hear, but not completely unexpected ah well, guess its time to start looking for a nice new setup thank you for at least clearing that up for me, less wasted time is always good
