Alright, my current PC is 1.5 years old, and I think it is time to get a new one. It may be a bit early, but what I have got isn't the best and it has some overlooked shitty components in it that I didn't think about when doing my first build.
I want this PC to last me until university, which is 4-5 years (who knows, I don't know how long things are supposed to last), so it needs to be pretty futureproof. I might build another one if things get old quickly.
I won't be building this soon, as I don't get the money until [don't know yet might not even be this year.] It will probably be around my birthday (November) that I get enough money to build it (by then 2 years)
Current PC
- i7-950 (£300 atm)
- GTX 460 superoverclocked or something (£250 when I bought it)
- 6gb of rubbish RAM
- Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R or something like that
- Antec 1200 Case (dusty as hell everywhere needs chucking) (£120 when I bought it)
Things I will reuse
- 850W Corsair Modular Power Supply (-£120)
- Blu-Ray Drive (-£50) [never used it anyway]
- All monitors, keyboard, and my mouse (which total to £700)
Things I want in my new PC
- Water Cooled CPU/GPU (if GPU cooling is cheap)
- Decent-sized SSD (depending on prices, suggest to me the best one for money. I will have other hard drives in the computer, of course, that need to go over the total cost)
- Tall, windowed case with lights
- Excellent GPU and CPU that will last some time. Feel free to suggest. However the GPU MUST be NVidia due to my 3D vision set and monitor, and I would prefer an intel CPU.
- RAM needs to be decent stuff, however, 8GB should be enough. Unless 12GB is the same price I'm fine with 8.
- Feel free to suggest anything on the GPUs. Remember I have time before I can buy this, so the GTX 6xx series might be what I get. I don't know if 2xGTX 660 or 1x680 or what is best for money, so please suggest.
I plan on overclocking.
I will hopefully be able to sell my old PC, or the components in it, for a couple of hundred pounds, so that's more for the budget.
That is all for now. My budget has yet to be decided, however it should be around the same as the previous computer, £1000-£1300 ($1600-$2000). It may be less.[/div][/div][/div][/div][/div]
