Paralyzed brother can't help me with my computer! D:

MAX:800$
PREFERRED: 650-700 and below

Your Location: USA

Main Purpose: Gaming, Book writing.

Multitasking: Medium. Maybe four, or five internet tabs open, photoshop open, and a few other programs max.

Games: Fallout New Vegas (haters gonna hate), Portal, Half Life, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Garry's Mod. Ect.

Resolution: 1280 X 768 (I don't need a monitor, I have one)

Overclocking: The only reason I'd overclock is if there is no possible way to get a gaming computer for the price I listed.

Peripherals I have: Keyboard, Mouse, Bose surround sound, monitor.

Recycled parts: Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 932BW plus, Mouse: Some cheap logitech mouse, lol, Bose speaker system, cheapo twenty dollar keyboard from walmart, lol.



Optional:

Case: A little bigger than the required parts, but not giant. Something that wouldn't be impossible to move cross country with. (moving in a couple years) , preference: I want something cool looking, but if it takes my budget over the edge, then I don't want to worry about it.

RAM: No freaking idea. Whatever is applicable

Hard Disk Drive: I know right now I have 116 GBS, and It's nearly completely full, and that's WITHOUT any games. So, maybe double that?

Other Requests: As soon as possible please. I'd also like if it all came from one website (like newegg) but if it's from all over, and it's cheap, I suppose that's fine too.

I never really clarified what happened. My brother was going to buy it, and build it for me, and then he got hit by a drunk driver. He's got temporary paralysis of his right arm, so he can't help me at all now. He offered, but I know how much it hurts him, and I don't wanna make him do that.

Sounds solid really, 965 will carry you for a while, I would have recommended something else from Microcenter but that's all they had in stock. Plus with a real 970 series chip you have the option of upgrading to Piledriver in the event AMD gets their act together later.

LEPA is a huge brand, HIS makes good cards, ASUS generally makes good boards unless you're in deeplove's shoes. The drive is a bit small (250gb will go in a flash if you get into gaming hard) NZXT is good for cases if you don't need support on them and G.Skill makes some good ram.

Not a bad deal, basically a small drive and a good find with that 6870, I would have suggested one of those had it been in inventory. I love my 6850, thing performs well and overclocks to insane levels.

Actualllly you can but you generally need more video memory in heavier situations, that 1GB cap tends to screw you over at that point. Given that is the extreme though and High and Ultra aren't that far apart I'd say its probably one of the best of the bunch as I couldn't find a 7800 series card for sub 200 at all which would be the closer match.
