I think your hard drive is the most likely thing that's damaged. There's no way to fix that.

You'll have to confirm if it is the hard drive. There are special free to download programs that test hard drives.



It might be a good idea to copy all files that you don't want to lose to some blank DVD or something. Just to be safe.

HDTune. basically do most of the tests. benchmark, health test, error scan. also, you might be able to get a little extra performance out of disabling AAM, but dont expect much from it, if anything.

it could be making noises that are indicative of damage, or imminent failure, though. in any case, it doesnt hurt to check it, considering it is the most sensitive device as far as shock is concerned.

When you get BSOD there is a code near the bottom that you want to write down ex: X0101. And look it up on the internet. I believe x0124 is a lack of voltage to CPU or ram. And if you had damaged the motherboard or CPU PC wouldn't start. Damaged ram would equal less ram which would slow you PC down.

I seem to have forgotten all about this thread...anyways, i managed to fix my power problems on my own. For anyone who needs a little more speed (and is running Windows Vista/7), here's what i did: When you hook up any kind of external memory device, such as a flash drive or an external hard drive, there's an option to speed up your computer by setting aside some of the space (you can select how much) and using it for processing power. I managed to find a 440 Gigabyte external hard drive at a yard sale for $20, and i use all of it for a speed boost. Now i can run just about anything i want and not experience any lag or crashes. As a test of my new capabilities, i fired up Crysis (notorious for needing massive amounts of power to run) and Minecraft at the same time, and still was able to watch Youtube videos with them running in the background without seeing any lag.
