....the time is upon us!



Today, I will be ordering my computer. Yes, I will now join the legion of men and women around the world, who have removed themselves from the teat of conformist consumerism, and am getting myself a custom made machine that will suit me and my tastes.

Here is my computer in a nutshell:

-Super SF800 case
-Asus M4A89GTD PRO motherboard (CrossFire, USB3.0, 7.1ch audio etc)
-Thermaltake ISGC 300 CPU fan and heatsink
-AMD hex-core 1100T black edition processor at 3.3GHz
-ATI HD 6950 2GB video card
-LG Bluray ROM
-115GB Corsair SSD drive
-2TB Seagate SATA3 drive
-16GB RAM at 1600Mhz (now, before the inevitable barrage of 'OMG, you don't need that!' I'll have you know, it was literally $10 extra to double the RAM, and so I thought *bleep* it, why not? If it was anymore expensive, I would've said no, but honestly, for $10 extra on a $2000+ rig, why not?)
-Windows 7 Home 64 bit
-Wireless card

So, in the next hour or so, I'll be ordering this. I can't wait to show it off to you guys, I've never had high end technology in my life, so this will be a massive first for me.

I edited my post right after I posted it, fyi. I didn't know you were already going to be reading it within 30 seconds.

Anyway, this is my experience with gaming with wireless cards: I could hardly run any online games at all with my wireless card (I spent about $30 USD on a wireless b/g/n one, if that's any indicator of quality). I ran packet loss tests, bandwidth tests, ping tests, etc. Everything was fine. But when I tried to game, I couldn't connect to any servers half the time, and when I did, I would literally not be able to move from where I spawned, because I was rubberbanding so bad.

Then I hooked it up to a wired connection and all my problems vanished. That's why I suggest a wired connection for gaming. Assuming you plan to game.

Idk, maybe I just got a bad card/router.
