NACHO Contest 2011 Discussion thread

July 1 Start date

Just wanted to get discussion started for this years contest and also to give people time to prepare.

Planning to start this in July and run it's course for the month as last year.

Prizes- Well currently no sponsors, maybe we can change that. If you would like to donate a prize, please let me know and we can note it on the list and credit you for the donation. If we can get enough prizes, I'd like to see at least 3 go to top scores or top of each class if we have tiered contests and include some random prizes for competing as well.

I've been going through the feedback of the old thread and seems there were some good suggestions. Do we want to continue in spirit of overclocking percentage? Do we want to have paired teams?

2010 contest feedback

So please detail your suggestions and also please suggest benchmarks you'd like to see included as well.

Would like to have benchmarks, rules ... etc ironed out by June 1.

When I saw the prize that hiigaran had put up I was hoping he'd fly out to the winner's city and take them out on an actual dinner date. I guess a man can only dream though!!

But in all seriousness, I'm looking forward to this year's competition. Followed last year's pretty closely (for those who don't know, I lurk the heck out of this place =P) and want to see how things go this year as well. If I ever get around to building before the deadline, I'll consider entering myself, haha.

I'll be giving a secret prize (whatever ends up being the daily deal on steam) to a randomly selected person on the signup list.

A draft of the rules and benchmarks has been posted.

Until I can get a hold of Gravity they aren't set in stone. They're there right now to give you guys a good idea of what they'll be.

That would be awesome. I'm not sure where Gravity has been, but consider them officially added to the prize pool.

If you wouldn't mind please send a PM to Gravity and Myself stating what your limitations on shipping are. (Would you only be able to ship to the continental US.. ETC)

Finally someone will get to play these and they wont just be collecting dust! Does any one know how much shipping would cost to send the games out of the U.S.? it doesn't seem fair for only Americans to be eligible.

It all depends on where you're shipping FROM, and who you're shipping with. I know that Shipping a ~6 pound laptop to Russia via Fedex was 28$, so I doubt that 2 games being shipped to a country other than the US will be too much.

I'm fairly certain it was that amount. Could've been 38, though. The estimate was a few months ago, too.
