So the Dell price isn't that bad, especially when you add shipping to that. Just don't expect it to be a great pc, they're all pretty low end parts.

You could go cheaper on the cpu and ramif you wanted. Could probably find some cheaper deals on everything but for the prices the parts are it's not a bad setup with the option to expand a little.

oh you can do a whole lot better for that price with building a computer.

as for your lack of experience, dont worry about it. a first step is to open up your current computer. just open it up. dont worry about touching anything - just look around. nothing will go wrong. try nd identify all the hardware. your power supply unit (PSU) will be in one corner, usually the top rear, where your main power cord on the outside will plug in. next is your motherboard. you cant miss it. it is the larget circuit board in the case which is where everything else connects to in one way or another. you will also see a big chunk of metal with a fan on it...underneath this is the CPU. close by are some sticks of RAM. they are long and thin (thats what she said?), and can be removed with the plastic tabs on both sides of each stick. there are other parts, but these are the main ones.

building a computer is like putting together a puzzle. however, this puzzle usually consists of about 8 pieces, and they are large pieces. insert these things into the slots, plug those things into those ports, screw some stuff into here, slide the other stuff into there.
