You can try and clean up the outside of the drive, let it set out for a few days and try and get rid of the smell and then try and RMA it. If the drive is already dead and you cant fix it, you wont loose much if they deny it. Might be out a few dollars for shipping maybe.

Ive been gone for quite a while. A ton of shit has changed on this site. Its like being new again. Not to mention that my lack of internet service for the past 2 years has rendered me absolutely useless in the area of computer hardware. There has been like 715 new processors released since my last stretch of activity.

Still using my old A64 3500 atm. My Opty is shot and dead. Tethered to the net through my Android phone, which despite it's advertised "ease of use", is really a hassle to get set up.

A ton of stuff has changed on this site for sure. But this place is certainly not as fun as it's once been. It's cool seeing the past regulars of this forum still around though.

Just sort of an opinion question for you all. I've dabbled into HTML before, learning the basics of it and a little advanced stuff. Is it really useful at all to know how to know HTML (please note I plan in going into the computer field in the future) and if it is, should I also learn all the derivatives of it?
