	Log in to remove this sponsored message My motherboard only has 4 connections for SATA devices. I have 2 SATA HDD's and 2 SATA DVD drives connected at present. I want to add another internal DVD drive with LightScribe. How can I do this without disconnecting one of the other DVD drives? Thanks.

	if your mobo has a free IDE slot, you may grab a SATA-IDE converter and install the DVD drive through that. -------------------

	I've got a spare 500 gig IDE drive taking up that slot. The only thing I have available is the ESATA. It's connected to the front of the case but I don't use it.

	IDE slots have masters/slaves right? you can use the DVD drive as the slave on that slot. -------------------

	why do i have a feeling that this will not work? i mean, youre proposing to get an IDE to SATA adapter which will go onto the middle of the IDE cable? do they even have such adapters that come in male form? even then, im sure some kind of signaling problems would arise from such a usage. ill wait till you get some results, but IMO, it looks like youd have a better chance from jerry-rigging an external port for internal use, or buying an external enclosure for one of your non primary hard drives and storing it outside. remind me why you want to add a third DVD drive... -------------------

	Or just spend $15 and get a SATA controller PCI card that usually will have like 2 to 4 extra SATA ports. ------------------- No gaming right now... my T42 video is toast (almost)... I'm getting zig zaggy lines all over the place. Neo HTML Markup help

	last resort i guess. the adapter is cheaper, but i guess its a gamble which could become a complete waste. still, three dvd drives is just overkill. id never even consider a third drive, and a second drive is a bit of a waste too. -------------------

	depends on what the OP needs it for. i used to have a PC full tower with 4 CD Burner drives... back in the days when PS1\PS2 was popular. Made a tidy little profit that paid off my PC plus some. ------------------- No gaming right now... my T42 video is toast (almost)... I'm getting zig zaggy lines all over the place. 	dunno, the PCI card would be better than jerry-rigging imo. and yeah, third drive is pointless unless you pirate commercially -------------------
