Dual Boot Probs |
|
I have a dual (WinXP / Win7) bootup option at the moment. The problem is that whenever I want to install any programs the system gets confused as to which installation is on which drive and starts putting things in what I believe are the wrong places.
For eg. XP is on C:, Win7 on D:. Within Win7 if I want to install adobe, it says installing on C: and off it goes. Is it really putting it in D: but calling it C: by mistake? Also I need to reinstall my WinXP. If the programs have been going into the wrong drive, when I reinstall would it also screw up my Win7 installation? When I do this reinstall, is there anyway I can set this up so that I dont have a repeat of the prob mentioned above? whatever operating system you are on, the C drive will be the drive letter assigned to the active operating system. this is the issue with multiple operating systems. once you install a program in one operating system, you may have to install it again on the other one, so essentially, the program takes double the space.
quoteuhhh, well if you need to reinstall the XP partition, then all programs installed to that partition would have to be reinstalled. as for not repeating this problem, im afraid theres no much you can do. the installer will default to the C drive always. ------------------- | |
