Need help on choosing motherbard

Ok. Theese are the things that I might be buying:

DVD Drive

Hard Disk Drive

Processor

RAM

Case

PSU

Graphic Card <--- Is there a better graphic card than this but the same price to this one?

Anyone know a motherboard that will be compatible with all these components?

re: Need help on choosing motherbard

I think the 4890 has similar performance to the GTX280, and they cost about £300.

EDIT: You might have to get DDR3 RAM, as not many AM3 motherboards support DDR2.

re: Need help on choosing motherbard

oh... but could you recommened me a motherboard that is compatible with all those components on ebuyer.com?

And as for the graphic card... that kinda expensive for me £300. Is there a good graphic card from £0-£150 which is better than the graphic card I listed on the first post?

re: Need help on choosing motherbard

What I was saying is that the Nvidia equivalent costs loads more. Get the 4890 . I searched through ebuyer for a bit, but I couldn't find a motherboard that has an AM3 socket to support your processor and also has DDR2 memory support. I did find this though.

No
quote Product Description
Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600* (OC) SDRAM, 16GB Max
You need one that supports DDR2 memory, or you could buy some DDR3 memory and have done with it.

oh... i didn't see your post. So... would I have to get a different HDD/RAM in order to make it support ddr3 motherboards?

re: Need help on choosing motherbard

The motherboard you linked a few posts up would work properly with that RAM. Only thing is, I would definitely get 2 sticks of that RAM if I were you. 2GB is not really enough for a decent gaming rig nowadays.

Well you know, you could have just gotten an am2+ motherboard.

Don't you lose performance that way?

re: Need help on choosing motherbard

Nope, the only difference would be the ram, but since there's virtually no performance gain noticed from going from ddr2 to ddr3, it's not really a factor.

re: Need help on choosing motherbard

Doesn't it need to be a specific AM2+ motherboard to support AM3 CPUs? Not all of them do it, right?

re: Need help on choosing motherbard

Well the board itself should always work, it's just a matter of the bios supporting it, but I believe all am2+ board should support am3 perfectly.
