Blue-Ray Burner v. Blue-Ray Drive |
|
What's the difference between a Blue-Ray burner and a Blue-Ray drive? Newegg.com distinguishes between the two but I don't see the difference.

A blu-ray drive will only read blu-ray disks (and read CD's and DVD's). A blu-ray burner will read and write blu-ray disks (and CD's and DVD's).
Burners are generally more expensive, and last I checked a blank blu-ray disk wasnt very cheap either. btw, its blu-ray not blue-ray ------------------- quote TurMoiL911

^That's pretty much it. But actually, you can find BD-ROM drives (readers) that can burn DVDs and CDs, they have separate lasers for DVDs and BD I guess.
Waiting to get a BD-R myself. -------------------

if youre going to get the burner, make damn sure that you are going to use it, otherwise youre going to waste a good deal of money.
