Converting a GeForce into a Quadro with RivaTuner? |
![]() now what is the point of this? well if i have understood this properly, by turning my GF5600 into a Quadro 5600, i should be able to run the gpu client of F@H. even if it doesnt work, the Quadro apparently has some advantages (not sure, but might as well try it) over the GF. so, is it possible to get it running the way i expect it to? and what risk do i have of something going wrong? as shown in the screenshot, this is a driver, meaning that i wont be able to remove it if something goes wrong, even in safe mode. -------------------

This is a softmod so there will still be differences between your card and an actual Quadro.
However your computer act as if it's using a Quadro. If something goes wrong with the softmod you risk bricking your card, but the chances of this are fairly low.

...alright, thats got me concerned then. so why does this risk exist? what causes this risk?

I'm not 100% sure on why the risk exists.
I know that softmodding can be bad if pipelines are disabled, or if the memory layout is different.

...alright. ill go for it. if i dont reply again within ten minutes, things have gone horribly wrong, and id have to reply again in 20 to 30 minutes after i removed the card, find the VGA cable, and connect the monitor to the onboard display.

ok it...worked. now its back to being a driver-less card though. im going to need help finding the drivers. so am i looking for 5600 quadro drivers or geforce drivers still?
EDIT: neither the quadro or geforce drivers will install. it says that setup cannot find any drivers compatible with my hardware. i think in the meantime i will undo what i have done, but if anyone has some suggestions, please tell me what you think. suggestion:
dont mess with your computer, its already not very good, and you can't risk losing a gpu. -------------------

Are you trying to have it find the Driver itself?

Are you trying to install the GeForce drivers?
Make sure to do that manually. So save them in a folder. Go to device manager. Go to the display adapter. Right click. Update Driver. Manually. Go find your folder. EDIT: Make sure old drivers are uninstalled.

I'd say try using the drivers from @Laptopvideo2go
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ They have modified driver lists and if you can drop in your device ID into the list it should allow you to install whatever drivers you need. It's what NVIDIA owners of laptop GPU's have had to do for years because of a lack of support from Nvidia. :/ ------------------- ![]()
