new computer question

im going to get a computer for black friday, prob this one $239.99 on black friday

and i was going to put a graphics card in it to make it a decent budget gaming computer mainly for mw2. now ive been looking at a 4870 possibly http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150441 and i was wondering how high i could go until the gfx card is limited by that cpu, that comp is AM3 slot so i could upgrade the processor if necessary, im basically just trying to get the best bang for my buck as possible, best performance for the least amount possible, also im gonna be needing a power supply, prob like $50 there but thats a diff story lol.

anyway my main question, how high could i go graphics wise before the processor limits it?

re: new computer question

that will work, and the 4770 will be fine without being limited too much, but it would have been nice if some information on the power supply unit was available. without it, we have no info on the amount of wattage available, or what brand it is for that matter. it could be a really shitty psu, and hence part of the reason why its so cheap.

by the way, theres no need to ask this in two different forums. you wont get any more replies like that.

re: new computer question

re: new computer question

you might as well build your own then. the video card will be about 150, the psu will be about 50, and if youre upgrading the cpu, that could be anything between 70 to 200, depending on what you want.

re: new computer question

this really isnt about the computer, its more about if that processor will limit the power of a radeon 4870 or im acutally thinking 4890 maybe cuz im getting some extra cash, if that processor does limit the power of them then i might just make my own

EDIT, allright got some extra money, i plan on getting this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161298&cm_re=4890-_-14-161-298-_-Product im not worried about PSUs, ill find one, i just wanna know if/how much that card will be limited by a AMD athlon II x2 215, because if it will be limited then a 4870 would prob be better than speding my money on power that wont be used

re: new computer question

It'll limit the cards performance a bit, but not enough for you to need to go get a new CPU.

re: new computer question

will it limit the 4890 enough that it would be better getting a 4870? plus i really plan on keeping this comp for a while and upgrading later as i get more money and stuff so getting a 4890 now and just upgrading the processor like next year or something is something i could do too

re: new computer question

The 4890 will still perform better then the 4870 if that's what you're asking.

re: new computer question

you can always overclock the processor just a tiny bit to bring it up to par with the video card.

re: new computer question

for about 180 dollars after rebate, get the overclocked HIS HD4890 with the 965 mhz core speed. thats the best 4890 available.

re: new computer question

if any of the ones i linked didnt have them, you can simply buy an adapter which would probably be cheaper.
