Looks about right to me. With just CPU folding on a single core of my 2.5Ghz 3800X2 Fahmon estimates my PPD to be around 47-147 depending on the project. If you have a compatible GPU your points go way up. I think courgan mentioned he has an ATI 2600 folding, I wonder how many PPD that can do. Re: ExposureI'm going to get the F@H team a bit more exposure soon. Probably via a forum announce as well as an icon in the footer or header or something. I want to get more PS3 foldersFahmon location:My locations are usually something like this:C:\Documents and Settings\Redemption\Application Data\Folding@home-x86\ This message was edited by Redemption on Feb 06 2009. ------------------- The further back you can look, the farther ahead you can see. <paraphrased> - Winston Churchill

re: Folding @ Home II |
quote RedemptionDoes anyone have a rough idea how long a PS3 takes to do a work unit that is larger then 10MB? I have heard that the Cell is a powerhouse for folding. And getting more exposure would be a great thing. We have an ok amount of users, but I know I have started and stopped using multiple accounts. Then again every little bit helps. -------------------

I saw this the other day while googleing something.
![]() Someone needs to make one of those for our team btw, I'm not running Windows on my computer anymore. I'm running a slightly modified version of OS X Leopard. Well by slightly hacked, I mean I just did a retail-install of it after changing about 10 files. Its amazing how similar macs are to PC's now, and how easy it is to install OS X on a regular computer now. For the most part, it works perfectly, I just occasionally run into a few bugs, like not having full access to my F@H settings. It still runs great though; uses all 4 of my cores to the max potential. Edit: quote courganThat worked perfectly as soon as I started it If I'm reading it right, its showing that I'm getting about 91.3 points per hour. I'm running a Q6600 at 2.5ghz. Also, how do you know how big the files you are getting are? ------------------- ![]()

i have heard and read about folding farms but nothing like that. most use older rigs linked and running linux in a diskless system. like those explained here. quote The Slayerit should say in the display or in the logfile.and i think all the mac has are smp.allot higher points.gonna upgrade to a q9550 soon then install the smp in my rig.tried with my e8400 and it does not like my set up. -------------------

We're gonna try and get a few more machines folding at NeoHQ. kspiess is going to run one of his video benchmark systems (currently using a GTX 295) through the weekend. I suspect he'll have wracked up some 15,000 points by Monday
I'm curious myself how many PPD/WU a PS3 can fold per day. Anyone got any stats? ------------------- The further back you can look, the farther ahead you can see. <paraphrased> - Winston Churchill

Red, dont you have a bunch of video cards laying around that have been reviewed, but you have nothing to do with? I thought I recall someone mentioning that. You could 'donate' some of them for use for this good cause
quote courganWhat have I kicked out on my cpu? I think I'm only on my second WU since I started it back up. I've noticed that since I started running this on my computer, its been noticeably warmer in my 11x11 foot I may try and put this on my Vista laptop later. It does a lot of sitting around and doing nothing while I'm not using, so I might as well. It has a 2.2ghz C2D, and a 8600m. Would the CPU or GPU client be better? and is there a way to have it only fold while the screen saver is on? ------------------- ![]()

The 8600m would fold faster than the C2D as long as it doesn't overheat or anything.

Yeah Slayer, I can fold 2/3 of a WU on my 9500M before it'll throttle down and pretty much crawl to the finish. Just make sure the back of the laptop is propped up on something then you should be fine.
