Computer Hardware Announcements, Requests, Feedback & Suggestions - Page 4

The problem with the hardware reviews, at least for me anyway, is I'm not always shopping for new hardware. I may upgrade my computer about once every year or every other year, and even then within 5 minutes of looking for a particular part (say a motherboard) I've already narrowed it down to a few choices and then just go for which one will be best for me with out really needing to read a single review on it. That, and combined with that I'm rarely shopping for new hardware means I rarely check out the latest hardware reviews.

I just thought of this while skimming over a random motherboard review, but what about during the conclusion show a graph rating how well the particular motherboards (or any other hardware) will perform for certain uses. For example, if it overclocks extremely well you can give it a 5/5 rating. It would have to vary from part to part but it could include such things as overclocking ability, how well it performs for video rendering or gaming. I just ran out of other ideas for it but it could be a start for someone else...

I do like how the review articles are split up in sections. If I want to look up how well a motherboard can un-rar a .RAR I can find that page very quickly by looking at the index. Same with the BIOS, the overclocking aspects or even just skipping to the conclusion.

While I'm talking about the articles, I would really love to see an update to the Neoseeker Server Project .

Though this doesnt have to do with reviews, I'd like to see more general computer/technology articles. Stuff like this or this and even this make for interesting reads (all of which I found on Digg) and if Neoseeker can get some more articles like that in, I think it could attract more people in. I'm more likely to check out an article on how they run a super computer or read the latest rumors from Apple than to read an article a motherboard that I'm not planning on buying...

The thing about folding points is that we'd have to let it run over at least a few days to get an accurate figure and that's not very practical for us

A comic with the guy talking about aspects of the forums and F@H Not too different but it could rotate so it highlights different aspects each time.

As far as contests go, loungin has a few thousand regular's, we have about ~8 or so. A contest for best rig wouldnt be too exciting because we can just go to the show cases forum to see what everyone has. I just think theres not enough activity or enough members here for any real 'best' contests. The reason they work so well in loungin is because there are a few hundred or thousand regulars there.

thats not a bad idea actually. ive seen video reviews done many times, so im sure that neoseeker can start doing them. its a nice way to speed through reviews and absorb the same amount of information in a shorter amount of time. why not? weve got the neoseeker videos to upload to, so thats easy as well.
