What kinds of games would I play with this? (Video card help page 2)

Sorry if you have a lot of gaming computer threads, but I want to know what kind of games I would be able to play with my current system, and of what inexpensive improvements could be made

quote Belarc Advisor
2.20 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Board: Intel Corporation D945GCNL AAD97184-105
Serial Number: BTNL74900HKP
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: Intel Corp. NL94510J.86A.0020.2007.0907.1417 09/07/2007

2046 Megabytes Installed Memory

314.30 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
235.42 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 (build 6001)
I have been told that my Bus Clock at 200 megahertz isn't very good at all... any further information and explanation of why/why not things are good or not would be appreciated. I'll happily provide additional information if requested.

Thank you,
Joel.

The rest of your system looks pretty good, but we cant make any type of assumption as to what games you can play with out knowing what video card you have.

The graphics card is holding you back. There are a lot of cheap and powerful cards out right now, so you have a wide range to choose from.

How to I know what graphics card is compatible with my computer and stuff? I wouldn't have a clue to find out... forgive my ignorance.

So if you could inform me to find out, it would be appreciated. When I do find out, can I link some I find and you could tell me how good it actually is? I'd probably buy off Ebay.

Uhh, first you have to figure out what kind of slot you have, AGP or PCI express. I'm assuming PCI Express, but I'm not positive.

re: What kinds of games would I play with this? (Video card help page 2)

Your board has a PCI Express slot so you could go with really any graphics card of your choosing. A nice little cheap upgrade would be to an 8800GT, another step up would be a 9800GT, then from there a ATI 4850 or Nvidia 260 and then up from there a ATI 4870. Be wary, as these cards do have some strenuous power requirements. You should check the wattage of it and amperage on its 12volt rails and how many rails. The easiest way to check, is open the case, and look at the sticky label. If you are unsure of how to interpret it take a photo and we can look for you. But that would be the only real limiting factor to the PC.

I'd say the ATI 4850 would be a great upgrade. I'm getting one, since it's a lot less power hungry then the other ones are, and it's decently priced for around 160 USD.

Only get an 8800GT imo. much more expensive and you'll end up having your CPU bottleneck the system making the more expensive GPU go to waste with nearly no gain from 8800GT

re: What kinds of games would I play with this? (Video card help page 2)

To be blunt, don't buy either. NVidia rips people off with their bullshit. The 8500GT is terrible for games, I have one that I was tricked into. And the 9400GT is sub par. I'd say go with at least a 9600GT or an 8800GT if you want to game.

re: What kinds of games would I play with this? (Video card help page 2)

Okay fair enough. It was because they are fairly cheap. So if I got either a 9600GT or 8800GT would I need any specific requirements? Like a certain power supply or whatever...

I don't know for sure. I just didn't want you to get duped into the 8500GT like I did, mine was 1GB. Horrible card. Won't run games, but it does run movies and videos fairly well.
