The Computer Building Competition: Discussion and Suggestions

Basically, The Slayer and I were talking on MSN, and I had an idea and ran it by him. And thus, the Computer Building Competition was born.

The Basics:

This is a game, where a certain person would give out directions to start of, i.e. Build a quality gaming computer for under $1500. The only thing is, there should always be a (realistic) price limit, or else there would be no fun trying to build a computer when you could throw in the top specs everytime. And also, no unrealistic goals either, i.e. Give me a computer that will run Crysis on Max for under $500. That would be idiotic, and wouldn't be worth trying, seeing as you'd get the Video Card and Processor it needs to run Crysis for that much.

Basically, The Slayer decided it would be best to run it by you guys, and see what you guys think about it.

I'd say using Newegg would be the best also, although if anyone here knows of a good currency converter, we could probably use any.

Im up for that, it'll be quite fun I guess.

I think it would be fun. Possibly open it up toa couple more people that a 1v1 though, possible have 4-5 people going at a time. theres enough guys on this board to vote between 4-5

If you want more then 1 vs 1, the winner of the last one, would also be the judge. Since the winner will be giving out the specifications, they will know who filled it out the best anyway.

that would work fine. then in theory it could be a totally open competition.

So you think it would be best to do a 1vs1 competition, and have everyone else judge it? Then the winner would be the one to choose the next topic? How will we decide who would be the ones competing against each other?

What about a website to use? To be fair, it would probably be best to have everyone use the same website. Is newegg fine with everyone? Its pretty user friendly and easy to navigate. You can even make a wish list and post it in the thread so its easier to share. I think you have to be a member to do that though.

Newegg is fine, nice cheap prices compared to the rip off UK websites.
