Perhaps this can help XP users...

I was really hopefull when I saw all the messages regarding XP-problems...but I'll guess Murphy has been here...!

1. My first problem was that PoP3D did not start after installing patch101. I had to copy the original pop3d.exe from CD1. Then it worked for a while but some problems known to be fixed by patch101 appeared. Then I could not load som saved games...and finally I cold not continue to level 5 - the game stoped responding.

2. I reinstalled the complete game with no patch (and saved my savegames). Then I can not load any savegames??? What to do?

I've tried everything, nothing works:
- Forget the GeForce stuff, I have an ATI Radeon 9800
- Updated the ATI drivers
- Updated to latest XP hotfixes
- I've tried severelal different downloads of the v1.01 patch + cracks...Starting the pop3d.exe asks for my CD-drive (even if I have it in)...Starting the popreal.exe returns a Microsoft error
- Tried compability mode 95 & 98/Me

Finally I seem to come to a solution:
- Install the game normally
- Copy CD2 into the game directory (I don't know if needed)
- Install patch101 (called 1.1 in some locations)
- Run unsafedisk v1.5.5 and start the testme.exe (download it from several sites.
- Set compability mode 98/Me

THIS SEEMS TO WORK! Suddenly the game starts and I can load my old savegames and I can continue past level 5! However, I still need to put in CD2 (the nocd-crack don't work and the testme.exe seems to need it), but it works!!!

If someone know how to solve the nocd-crack problem also, I would be happy, but as it is now, I'm just happy again!

more...Perhaps this can help XP users...

Sorry, it is when loading level 6 that the game stops responding (if anynone wondered).

I can also add that with this fix/workaround, savegames appear automatically for each level, the games graphics/movement is smother etc...and I can use [Alt]-[Tab] to switch between XP-programs (impossible before). It really seems that I'm running a v1.01 game!

re: Perhaps this can help XP users...

Hi, I managed to get PoP3D to work by uninstalling Quicktime and installing the version that comes with the game. Looks like there is a prob. with newer versions of QT and the game.

Hope this helps anybody thats stuck.
