Wild arms3 VS. Final fantasy X - Page 2

I think WA is still working out ways to give itself some more identity in the RPG world, outside of its obvious Wild West theme. I liked how the games (including the third one) conveyed just how barren and dying the world was, but it was still worth saving in the end. The plots are still a little cliched though, and WA3 especially made an effort to extend its own far more than I thought was necessary.

The battles in WA3 aren't much better than in previous games, but it did make an attempt to be more dynamic than the first two games. I especially like the ability to cancel a character's action right before they executed it. Making ARMs a normal part of battle is a little strange since I always liked the idea of a mysterious character who somehow mastered the use of fearsome ARMs in a world that feared such creations (ie Rudy). But I suppose it does make more sense the way they did it in WA3 for physical combat. Defending to reload bullets as a result was pretty nice idea, but then again I can't remember right now if defending in WA actually helped to reduce damage by much otherwise.

I liked the battles in FFX more even though like WA3 it's still menu-driven, turn-based combat. It's the way the turns are realized in the game that I like. Being able to see when your characters could act in relation to each other as well as the enemy adds a nice element of "strategy" (well, as strategic as console RPG battles can get anyways ) that's actually viable. As opposed to say, the ATB battles of old where the "strategy" was really limited to waiting for those bars to fill up before getting your characters to act again.

Plus, the FFX battles are as fast you want them to be (barring the time for attack animations, of course) since you could take as much or as little time as you needed to execute your actions; everything else already "queued up" in relation to turns, and again you have this queue handy to help you prepare for what's next.

To say nothing of the ability to switch members from the sidelines on the fly during battle, and how they will affect everyone's turn order (including the enemies') as a result! FFX gives you more control than ever over the battles, and that's good enough for me.

I did like the exploration element of WA3, even though I also feel that the "Search" feature is kinda silly. Call me old fashioned but I do get a certain kick out of running around a world map, and WA3 made a decent effort in putting one together complete with all sorts of hidden items. But it's nowhere near as cool as it was in Skies of Arcadia of course.

I honestly hated the active time battle system. It's a pain in the butt to me.

Blitzball Star, not to sound like an ass or anything, but a good part of the game is spent on a horse looking for a town, I don't think we can help you if your that vague on it.

I like them both. The boss battles in FFX were too easy for me and the final boss was so easy, I almost died laughing at it. The boss battles in WA3 were very hard for me. I kept getting killed by Janus in of the Guardian temples, can't remember which one. The graphics for FFX was better, but I perfered the storyline from WA3. And music from both of the games was awesome. I love an RPG so long as it was good music!

I think you lot are right about the two games being individual, (but WA3 crap.......ummm no) FFX is good but i agree that the FF series have gone down hill since 7, FF6 & 7 were ace, 8 was BS (although a lot of people prefer it because it has lots of cheesy, sopy crap in it, its more like final reality i.e. no weird PCs like moogles, there cool. I hope FFXI has moogles as playable characters.

Well i'm a huge final fantasy fan and no offence but comparing wild arms3 to ffx is a joke. Final fantasy is the RPG it will always lead the way for role playing games. I'm not sayin wild arms3 is a bad game i brought it pre owned for a tenner and its a bloody good buy considerin what u get out of gameplay. The start of the game is really creative as well. I'd say its a good RPG, better then most but no way near final fantasy. And the boss thing is simply why dont you try makin some armour to protect yourself from zombie by using the items you pick up from the monsters in the area.

Wild Arms 3 is a great game, however if there was a vote for which game is better, FFx would win easily.
