The word "oriental" being a racial slur isn't an opinion. And first you said I am the only one in the world who thinks the way I do, then it becomes all East Asian people, then now its a minority? Last time I checked, the Oriental population and the US population added up to around half the entire world. So I'm not minority. It just so happens that most of the people representing Neoseeker are either uneducated, British, or dickride you like crazy.

How is a word derived from East a racial slur? I have never heard of or thought of Oriental as a racial slur. It's just a term used to refer to people who live in Asia (the entire continent not just East Asia). It was derived from the latin word oriens which means East. So if call your ancestry as from "people from the East" is a racial slur. Then I am going to cry next time you call me white.

btw I hope you are not implying I dickride Deis. In fact I personally can not stand her for many reasons. I just happen to agree with her here.

And on that point, could I not say that because the word Asia is not commonly used in the UK to refer to East Asians that they should not be classed as such by anyone?

There's also the fact that a number of Americans would acknowledge people from South Asia as Asian, as evidenced by this thread, and again, the fact that the word Asian is used to refer to South Asians on official documents.</sub>
