Perhaps not applying the term terrorist to Hhamas is going to far, Hamas are terrorist by the definition of the word. What pisses me off is that Israel are clearly doing worse things to civilians and they aren't branded with the same name and and lets not forget who was the aggressor at the start of all this and who is occupying who. Israel are getting away with murder literally and the west is just looking the other way and pretending it isn't happening, that's what I don't like. Protection of ones country is more important than anothers, I always view politicians as the ones looking out for the people. It may not seem like it, but think about it, if they wanted to run the country into the ground, they would not have any power, and for us to assume what they are thinking isn't right, cause we really don't know anything besides the assumptions we make. We may not like it, but we have to accept they are probably doing it for the benifit of their people(Turning a cheek to Israel). We like to hink they are ignorant, but I am sure they know much more about the situation than the Public will ever know. I come to terms with that sad fact that to survive we must be cut throat, i'd much rather not have it be that way, but in my opinion peace is not an option for the most part, taking advantage of others and what not is what we do, and again, I don't agree, and I would like to live in harmony, but I know it's something that won't happen. It all depends who wins the War on Terror really. The Winners right the History books. If we were to loose the Revolutionary war we would be in British books as the terrorists who plagued them for a decade or so. -------------------

It's the people who have to be the checks and balances system on the government because power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's been proven time after time that leaders in power are led to evil by the love of money and power. Yet people naively think they are so special they live in a time and place without corruption. Guess what? You're not that special. We have the right to question our government because that's what makes us American. Otherwise we're just in a police state. And honestly if we don't combat this BS "War on Terror" it won't be long before we are a police state as more and more of our civil liberties begin to be stripped making the constitution null and void. We've already trashed the Bill of Rights.

That is completely inconsistent with your previous post where you stated that you believe politicians are honest and that we must put our faith in the government? Do you have split personality disorder or are you displaying the Orwellian doublethink? In other words, you're acknowledging our government is corrupt yet still trying to convince yourself we should trust them and give them the BOD because they know best. That is holding two beliefs at the same time. Two completely contradicting beliefs.

We are talking about Hamas and Israel not terrorism in general. Perhaps the original post and thread title didn't make that clear, but that's what I intended it to be about and that's what 90% of the post have been about. kyosuki miballs - You can't just give leaders free reign on such issues and assume that they will always be looking out for your best interests. Your philosophy seem to be they will be looking out for the best interests of the country and as you are part of that country that automatically means they will be looking out for your best interests too. I believe Americas support for Israel is based on religious grounds and is bringing nothing good to the country and is having nothing but a negative effect on the country and more importantly the world as a whole. If there is ever going to be peace (or relative peace) in the middle east this conflict has be solved. Anyone who wants America to win the war on terror realistically has to make this there number one priority, because its the biggest course of the problems in the region. Apart from all that, you are also assuming that given that they have Americas best interests at heart (which I don't think they do, I think there religions best interest is placed above America's) they will also be able to come up with a successful strategy, I think George Bush has proven him self less then capable in this department, and little pressure from the American people to point him in the right direction wouldn't hurt. -------------------

	Terrorism means that you inflict fear in people to further an agenda. Ie. to free prisoners, make money, or pull-out troops. Americans have such a distorted view on what a terrorist is its comical. It's so distorted that anyone who rejects the will of the USA is labeled a terrorist.

	It is quite easy to pretend there is some moral line crossed when Hamas, Hezbollah, or other unsavories labeled terrorists are labeled as such. To do so however, would require the United States gov't to meet certain standards. As for labeling the French Resistance "terrorists", I do not believe the United States will ever go as far as the Nazis, (massacring 6 million people). As for Mandela; prove to me beyond the hype generated by Kanye West the the United States Gov't, (not some nebulous entity removed from the people), wants to segregate and destroy blacks. Maybe we should tell Condi Rice. We should label people as they are in relation to us. Hamas and Hezbollah do not fight for the collection of ideals we call "freedoms". In fact, if they ever establish Sharia law, they are literlly establishing submission to Allah SWT. They do however use violence to create terror, and intimidate a civillian population to comply, thus, "terrorists" is a very apt name. Aside: I doubt Ismail Haniyeh and Nasr'allah sit around thinking whether to label America the "Great Satan" or "The Misguided rich people". But I do not doubt that they work against us.
