Anti-Western feelings + Nuclear weapons = trouble

Actually what he meant was that we'll be blasted all the way back to the stone age.

It's probably true. George W. Bush said that the Axis of Evil was Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran.

Iraq- we're never getting out unless we have a good leader
Afghanistan- who knows except that we're still in; no media.
Iran- 3rd one, no doubt that mother*bleep*er is going in

Well that makes more sense because the US soldiers are in Afghanistan and Iraq which means that they're going to be stuck there for a while. If they do manage to get out it will be past 2009. In other words, whoever is running in office probably isn't going to be nearly as idiotic.

Just two more years...

I said two more years as in two more years before this dark age is over. The next president is going to be cleaning up a mess.

Unless of course Iran does develop nuclear weapons.

The problem with the war in Iraq is that it was waged in a manner which actually buoyed Iran into a position of power that it didn't enjoy before. Iran had always been balanced, more or less, by Saddam Hussein's Iraq.

When the Americans and British went in and destabilised it, then became severely quagmired in it (Iraq), Iran was able to emerge rather freely. The problem is that Americans and British are realising that the war in Iraq was a dumb idea, and are now trying to fix it - but like someone said earlier, it's going to cost a lot to fix it.

In my opinion, the consequences of the blunderous war in Iraq will be akin to the consequences of the misadventure in Mogadishu that left 19 Americans dead back in October of 1993. Lack of success and credibility in Iraq could potentially lead to a failure by the United States to respond to a serious problem in the future (perhaps generated by Iran), much like it failed to respond in Rwanda in 1994 because of what happened in Somalia. It's almost as if Bush waged enough war to last Americans 20 or 30 years and consequently they won't be looking to pick a fight any time soon down the line, as necessary as a fight could prove to be.
