i have to agree with megaman, where i live smokers arnt suppossed to be allowed to smoke most places but it only takes one person to light up and you have to do the whole holding ur breath until you get away thing, some people dont realise that it is actuallu life threatning with certain forms of asthma

The Surgeon General has released a report saying that ANY amount of second-hand smoke is extremely hazardous and potentially fatal, giving lists of associated conditions as well as figures and risk rates.

Maybe this will help set into motion even more strict laws regarding smoking? One can only dream...

I'm all up for bannin smoking in restaurants and buildings and stuff, thats fair enough. People shouldn't be forced to sit in a smokey restaurant. but if your in a public place like a town square, then it's nowhere near as bad, the smoke goes away in seconds. And if someone walks past you smoking, it owuldn't kill for you to just move out of the way a little bit.

If smokers were a bit more courteous then things wouldn't be so bad. If I'm having a fag in town and I'm walking past some old people or children or whatever. I just step out of the way a bit.

And about making it illegal, that's just stupid, it's like saying drinking should be made illegal beause a few drunk people start fights. You can't take away things people enjoy just becuase you don't like them.

Smoke on your own land. Away from anyone (or people who don't care). I don't want to smell or inhale your disgusting piece of shit and don't talk to me because your breath stinks.

No matter how old this quote is, can I just say that if you tried this 'tactic' on a smoker, like myself, they'd just think you were an arsehole. If I'm in a legal place to smoke, this sort of shit you're talking about would make you look like a tool. No smoker would listen to what you're saying because you're being so 'right on' it'd sicken them.

Other people can do with their lives what they will, smoking or not, but I don't like the smell, so I'll just avoid it and go on my way. If you're a kid with parents that smoke, simply go into another room. Your daddy want to have a fag? Well nob off somewhere else. That's his choice.

Though i agree, i think its obvious that human beings can indeed ban things just because they dont like them. They do it with the vast majority of narcotic substances.

Its just that alcohol holds a special, magical, socially biased and illogical place in peoples hearts.

If you agree with banning Nicotine, Heroine and Cocaine due to adverse health effects then you should also agree with a ban on alcohol. Though im betting my balls no-one see's it like that. There are always excuses.
