I think you might have quoted the wrong person there. Ifnot, then you'll have to clarify what you said, because I don't understand.

so let me get this straight..

the next time i am in the jungle on a 24 hour recce mission in deep enemy territory, i should

1.Take up chess.(nice one... maybe i should get my officer who is down the hill to join me..)

2.Go fishing.(yeah the mission can wait..)

3.Write poetry.(can you get me a pen and paper that don't get wet please..)

4.Go on long walks.(to the enemy camp?)

5.Read a good book.?(see number 2)

6.Drink less caffeine.(what does caffeine have to do with it?)

7.Get enough sleep.(its enemy territory, if i sleep i can just kill myself right there itself..)

8.Listen to quality music.(yeah sure thing..)

9.Friendly conversation.(tried this before.. but my mates are too far away and we need to maintain noise control)

10.Have a ballanced diet.(yeah combat rations rule)

11.Take up a religion, (E.g. Buddhism).(actually i am christian.. and that is one of the problems..)

12.Cook your own food from raw ingredients.(oh do that all the time, not out of choice)

13.Buy a punching bag.(there are enemies for that)

14.Contact an old friend.(pfft..)

15.Buy a stressball.(and play with who? )

16.Scream.(yeah and give my postion away?)

17.Meditiation.(not bad.. the rain and the dampness is just nice..)

18.Stroke a dog.(can you make sure he is jungle trained)

19.Whistle/sing/hum a happy tune.(for the last time..noise control)

20.Take up cycling(where?)

or i could take a cigarette and smoke it for a minute and clear my head of all worries for a while..

One thing I've noticed on the smokers arguments here is this: "Walk away. If someone is smoking next to you, why are you still standing there?" Well here's what I say to that... WHY THE *bleep* SHOULD I?!

It's the SMOKERS who are killing themselves, breathing in and out dangerous chemicals. Do it away from others! We don't want to have anything to do with your damn smoke! That's the whole idea of these bans, because normal, educated people don't want to have to inhale that SHIT that you are breathing out. It's harmful, and it's an awful smell to those who don't have tar-coated lungs and dead cilia in their noses.

So here's my advice to you smokers: for once, YOU move the hell away. Because you're invading my personal space, where the air is clean, and carcinogens kept to the bare minimum.

I have no problems with someone smoking, but the guy two posts above... You make the large list about relevance in extrenuating cicumstances, namely being a member of the military in a jungle in enemy territory. If you get so stressed you NEED a smoke, then what the hell would you be doing in the army? Also, you exaggerate the effects of smoking, my entire family smokes very regularly and they are still stressed out, they don't just suddenly forget all their troubles. Not to mention that even if a cigarette let you clear your mind of all troubles as you say, you wont be troubled by the guy behind you with a gun about to pull the trigger, or a venemous snake is about to have your ankle for breakfast. You can REALLY afford to kick back, open up your box of cigarettes, light up (which could attract attention), lean against a tree while having a few puffs, smoke coming out and potentially alerting others, then leaving a trail once you are done because the smoke has made your clothes stink. That would be REALLY good practise. Fishing is starting to sound like a good idea now, eh?

I have no problem with others smoking, as long as they don't do it around others. People talk about their right to do what they want and to have a smoke (of course, while condemning the use of other drugs). What about non-smoker's right to life? I share rooms with smokers, cars with smokers, every day at home, school or in the move I breathe in someone else's smoke, damaging my body, making me smell like cat piss stuck in a microwave with burnt basil dissolved inside... So you can get your little fixes because you guys can't face up to reality, that being that you are inadequate for the circumstances you are in and need a crutch to keep you up, even if that crutch kills you or other people. If people wanna kill themselves, no problem, but the rights of the non-smoker come first. the right to life is the most fundamental of all human rights, period.

Wrong. Everyone has rights. The smoker has the right to smoke, as you have the rights to walk away.

The law should favour the non-smoker, but unfortunatly it doesn't. The government likes us more than you you know.

You don't even know what Right to Life is do you? Passive smoking isn't a Right to Life issue. Right to Life are issues concerning abortion, capital punishment, etc... Besides, many people even doubt that passive smoking kills. So how the hell is it a Right to Life issue?

if you want to know why i wrote the whole list, go and read the page before this before coming up to me and telling me all that.. and i am in the army because i have to do two and and half years of compulsory service.. i did not choose it.. really read the post before those before jumping into a dialogue..and by the way.. i did not come up with the list,scarface did..

and dude.. i am a on a recce mission at night in a raining jungle.. a lighted cigarette does not give out as much smoke as a lighted fire.. i would know, i do it all the time.. the smoke disperses away after a 1 min radius.. unless the enemy was right next to me, he would not be able to detect the smoke..and the other thing is .. do you really think i am going to be lighting a cigarette if i was engagaing an enemy? do you think anyone is so stupid?

i only smoke when i am away from the enemy camp before engaging in the battle or starting the operation while we are just in position.. the moment the go ahead is given.. all i have to do is throw my cigarette and get moving..
and as i said, smoking is a quick reliever.. it gives you a bit of reprieve for a while when you are stressed up.. for me its just the feeling of dragging and watching the cigarette burn.. i did not say it is going to cure you of your troubles..
