It's not our judgement to tell someone whether he/she should/should not get one. What if this person had a just reason? I have a friend who is in a dilemma. She is pregnant for 2 months now, but coincidentally during that time, she was extremely ill with a virus. She was even hospitalized for a while and given tons of strong medication (antibiotics and what not ) to fight off the virus in her body. Unfortunately, the medication she HAD to take are most likely harmful to fetuses. She found out she was pregnant AFTER she took all the medication and she asked me and another guy friend what she should do now? She wants to keep her baby because she feels it is wrong to abort it (ending a life). But most likely, the fetus is affected by the heavy medication and lung X-rays she had to take...so there would be a large chance for it to be abnormal? If she gives birth to it, she risks having a deformed/mentally hindered child. She could also lose the respect of her family and friends, and be burdened being a single mother to an abnormal baby. So what do you guys think? Do you think it is justified for her to abort it because of this situation? This message was edited by Amourette on Sep 28 2002. Hmmm... I got a request about advice on this question... Let's say that it's not really to me to give advice, and I should also say, what do you classify under abnormal? I mean not many people know this, but I've some psychological problems to I got by birth... I didn't mean to hide that, but I didn't want to spread it all around either, my close friends know exactly what I'm talking about... And truely speaking I know that in the same time, I'm a normal human being... (I'm not going into detail about my problems on a public as long as I don't need to)... (Amourette knows exactly what I suffer from)... I don't know if my problems can be compared with this child future problems... I mean, I know that when I ever get a daugther that the chance can be great that she might get breast cancer, still I don't want to give up getting children for that, and I'd love to have a daughter... If the problems of this kid are really getting great you might consider to safe the child a horrible life, but on the flip side of the coin, even with a psychological/physical handycap, you can be happy... I think it would be wrong if the famely would condem her to give birth to an "abnormal" child (people with problems like mine consider "abnormal" and "normal" as forbidden words, btw)... But's that's my way of thinking... I'm affraid she would also never forgive herself when she decides abortion... I don't want to give advice... My advice can only make matters worse... Lemme say that this a decision you shouldn't take easily... All I can and want to advice is to not to do things rashly... 	Well, I still don't agree on abortion... But on what "Lady Love"'s friend situation puts it. I had a very hard time contemplating about it. If her friend keep the baby it would come out Abnormal or maybe Deformed. It's been hard for her friend, I can say that... 'cuz my Uncle's wife got sick while pregnant, and took lots of medication. But they insist to keep my favorite cousin even though the doctor said that there could be a large complication on the child. My cousin's body is half dead, well not half dead... But he's half body is having a hard time to move. Though he's a very smart kid. I still love my cousin. He's 7 yrs old now. Until now, my cousin suffers from frequent seizures Well, I guess "Desperate time calls for Desperate measure". 	no need to apologize. but it troubled me that Amourette had accused me of sending her a 'nasty' pm. things like that are hard to take in, but i pm'd her and requested to end this pointless argument, since were spamming up the forum. she'd informed me that her original accusation was aimed at you Hitokiri, and i guess because she had posted straight after my post i thought that her problems were aimed at me. and i apologized for that. but my posts and pm's are all mature whilst written in earnestness. you don't accuse a fellow member of sending u 'nasty pm's' when u know it's not true......that's really the only thing that bugged me. would u think it's fair to have to defend urself from such a false allegation? anywayz, thanx for taking the initiative to end this argument. -------------------

	Thanks for all your posts, guys. I showed her all the replies, for and against her situation. She has decided to go for it after reading your posts. Her reasons are because the fetus is most likely severely damaged. It could end up in a miscarriage, premature death, or permanent handicap. She herself, is also in poor health condition at this time. She feels very sad about the entire ordeal and cries everyday about the guilt from her choice, but it is not entirely her choice.... Even if she chooses not to abort it, her mother forces her to.

	You know I think I have to say do what you have to. Because like what Lady Love said, the baby is severly damaged or so. If the baby continues to stay inside and dies, it could affect the mother herself and she might die too. 	I don't want her to do it either, Mr.Babyface of Neo (I like that nickname for you;))....but....abortion is a very touchy subject. I'm the type of person to GO AGAINST abortion. In fact, when I was a child up to highschool, I was against abortion at all costs/any situations. But this situation has learned to open my eyes and realize that there can be twists and turns to ordeals like this. I've always rooted for the fetus' life, but never gave a thought to what the mother is going through.

I don't think she should abort her childen, even if the possibility of it being abnormal. Just because it may be abnormal, doesn't give you a right to abort your child. But who says it will turn out abnormal? There is always a chance that it may just be fine and be like every other child. Abortion is never a good thing in my opinion, its killing part of you. When you get an abortion and in doing abortion you will always regret doing it after its finished.
