Slaves to Time?

Were not slaves of time, we use it to organize things, plan things. How would we set things up if we didn't have time? Like meetings, you can't say 'The middle of the day' because they wouldn't know when that is.

If I didn't have a watch or phone, I would be totally lost. I have to plan things out, so without knowing what the time was, that would be exceedingly difficult. I do feel lost when I don't know what the time is, so I usually only take my watch off when going for a shower.

Well I wouldn't say we're slave to time in the same definition. I would say that we are in terms of being preoccupied with it.

As in using it as a reason for nearly everything: "I don't have time" - when you actually do

Or in lifestyle choices like dating. There was this article in USA Today which was about dating. It went like this:

"In yesterday's time it was don't lose your virginity on a loser, now it's don't waste your time on one."

That statement basically sums up what we're all going through. Time is everything, we see it with so much value but so much of it is really spent doing nothing worthwhile. Quite odd for a hot commodity.

The original statement, "A slave of time" wasn't meant this literally. It wasn't meant as us being subjected to having to rely on time to get somewhere at a certain point in the day, or do something at that point, etc. etc. etc..

It was meant more of the fact that time afterall does control us in a more "life and death" kind of way. No matter what we do, we only have so much time on this place, we don't have much of it at that. Time in a sense defines "life." At the moment I am at a loss for words to explain exactly what I mean, I'm tired, and not feeling well. I'll explain more later.

However, I do see where you would get this. Time does in a way control us. Time, as I always explain it being, is the ultimate unreal number. It is constantly changing, never the same, it will never repeat, it will never be able to go back, it is, and that's all there is to it. Time just is.

No matter how much we try, we will never get more time. It is what guides us through the day, through our life even. Even people that live those "simpler" lives as someone called it, do in fact have a perception of time, and do live by it. They only have so much time for harvest, or for hunting, as you very well can't harvest in the dark, and you can't hunt in the dead of night efficiently. You can't go hunting geese in the winter, so you only have so much TIME out of the year to do so. So you see, everyone is subjected to the limitations of time. Always moving foreward, never able to change it, never able to make more, always pushing onward right along side of it.

Time, the ultimate unreal number. (I just had to say it again, I like the way it sounds.)

"Yea, meet me at ...... when that cloud goes over the sun!

It is something we need not think about, because it is a technique drawn up long before any real sence was made of anything.

We are not slaves to time. We are just victims of the rules of time. Rules set by our own ancesterors. It may have its flaws, in that everything works during the day. But it is now routine and procedure. People are used to it, and like the way it works.

But don't go into it too deep, some is really beyond me. Example; who decided how long a second was? and why 60 for a minute? who thought of a minute? why 24 hours in a day?

It works, and it will stay that way. This is one case, where I do believe ignorance is bliss.

I'm so deeply sucked into this black hole known as schedueling, that I can't even imagine life without knowledge of what time it is, or how much time I have before I have to do something. All I would be able to think about is all the TV shows, and other shedueled activities I'd be missing without knowledge of time. AT school I have a checklist, so at the start of the day, and at lunch, I check off a little box I made, and next to it, I can see exactly how many more hours of school I have this week. It's insane, but I'm just too deep into to even think of getting out.

Sometimes I can go for a day without time. But I still follow the essence of it day to day. Even if there were no clocks, people would still be slaves to time.
