Should the drinking age be lowered to 18 again?

Wow, the discussion level here is pretty damn low for Thinker's Lounge, too many Loungin rats in here.

As for the guy who brought up drunk driving, most of the accidents that arise from drunk driving are committed by people over the age of 25. Lowering the age won't stop drunk drivers, the only thing that will make a difference is if we strengthen the laws surrounding drunk driving. Personally, I think any person who gets a DUI should have his/her license taken away for at least 3 years, thats the only way people will learn. Multiple offenses should get their license taken away forever.

Anyways, I wouldn't mind if the age was lowered to 18. If you study the countries that already have that law in effect, or the countries that don't even have age limits, you don't really see things going out of control. Kids still don't drink that much, and if they do, somehow they still have the common sense to not get themselves or other people hurt. For some odd reason here, in the US, with stricter laws, we have a higher drunk driving accident ratio than the other countries.
