	Firstly, this has the potential to be one of those religious topics that people just spout about and it gets no where and turns into a nasty flame fest. That being said, I'll give my honest opinion. Let me first post a "disclaimer" that I'm not sure where I stand religiously, but I'll talk from a perspective of a Christian. I know Christianity well, as I used to be a fairly devout follower of the religion. Alrighty... This is almost a paradox, in a way. God is a forgiving god. In the Christian religion, asking for your sins to be forgiven and "giving your heart to Jesus Christ" is the "ticket" into heaven and how one becomes a true "Christ follower". It says somewhere in the Bible that once this "transition" has taken place, nothing can separate you from God, that you are promised an eternity with Him unless you basically renounce your faith. People have highs and lows in their faith, there are times when they pray more than others, but if they truly believe and they love "the Lord" they will be saved. All of that being said, the Bible says that "sin is sin, no matter how bad the world views it" (sorry I don't have the speciic verse). Basically, God views a simple lie to cover up sneaking out of the house as a kid as the equivalent of murder. Sin is sin. Self murder is no exception, it is a sin. That being said, after committing suicide, you have no chance to repent and ask for forgiveness from your sin. So there's my two sense. I really can't take a side on this because A) I'm not a Christian and B) even if I was a Christian, there's no way to truly know. Sorry, but no matter what anyone in this thread says, there is no true, legitimate answer to this question, only information that can guide you to your own decision. 	Ok, I know it's pretty common for Christians to think this way but I don't think it's actually in the Bible, which makes someone telling you it a little less... satisfying. -------------------

	Honestly, the Bible is pretty quiet about this issue. Suicide is never really spoken of, and I don't think it's completely accurate to say that all who commit suicide to hell, but here's a passage I like when talking about the issue: In the book of Philippians, Paul talks about how even though he would rather be in heaven with God (ie it would be better to die) he knows he must stay on Earth to fulfill God's work. So when Christians say they long for Heaven, many probably literally mean that they would much rather be there than on Earth, but they understand that they shouldn't prematurely cut their life short because of it. quote Philippians 1:22-26 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me. Again, I don't think it's fair to say that suicide leads to hell. But it's still definitely a sin, and if you are considering suicide as a believer there is probably some sort of fracture in your relationship with God that has contributed to it, so there's no guarantee of heaven either.

	Ok, what am I looking for? One Christian doesn't equal a majority. I have no way of knowing the actually statistics on this, but in my personal experience there is an overwhelming majority who do think suicides go to hell. -------------------

	According to the Bible, yes, you go to hell immediately for commiting suicide. From a moral perspective, suicide is, quite often, very justifiable and should not be seen as evil or selfish.

It never says this in the Bible I've read. Please cite the verse(s) you are referring to. I don't believe one goes straight to hell for committing suicide. I believe a lot of factors go into it that are not discussed in the Bible, as I see believe in more than just the Bible as scripture, so I draw from several sources. And the Bible alone is simply insufficient to provide a sound answer to this question.

	I believe that all murder is a sin worthy enough of going to hell. That is a firm belief of mine, but it is also a belief that I contradict myself on all the time, and am in a constant argument with myself over. Murder is bad. Very bad. But some issues that I have problems with is abortion, suicide, and military (not limited to). Abortion is killing a defenseless baby that never had the right to live, but was a human because (being Catholic) I believe life begins at conception. Being an "accident" baby, being born when my birth mother was 16, she chose adoption for me instead of abortion which causes me to be so anti abortion. I don't know what to believe when it comes to does the mother/doctor who commit abortion (thus murder) go to hell or not. Next is the military. In wars, people die all the time. It's a fact, it's a part of life and part of the war. So the people who killed people like bin Laden, Gaddafi, or any other terrorists/"bad" people in wars, do they go to hell? They are protecting potential millions of people by getting rid of these bad people, but they committed murder. Is that bad? Will God pardon them? And now to actually be on topic. Suicide. Such a touchy subject. First reaction of course is it is murder. You killed yourself, who is a human being, so you're going to hell. But then again, if you were pushed and pushed to do such a terrible thing, like I said earlier, will God pardon that? Honestly though is there really ever a point in someone's life where suicide is their only option? I really do think not. Suicide has crossed my mind multiple times, I'm not going to lie. But really I know that I would never do it. I may say I will/might, I might joke about it, but I really do know that I would never kill myself. Part of it is my fear of death, that I will never really know what will happen to myself if I didn't die. Another thing is, would I go to hell? I killed someone. I think that yes, I would go to hell. But what is suicide but greed? You are only thinking of yourself when you're about to kill yourself. Thinking about how it will affect you, thinking about how you will do it, thinking about why you should do it. You're only thinking about you. Greed is one of the seven deadly sins, which really is reason enough to go to hell. Now Catholics believe that these are forgiven with reconciliation, but after you're dead, how can you reconcile your sin/s? You can't. This also has me thinking about the seven deadly sins. I'm not going to go into detail about them, but I'm going to leave by saying that I believe that any of the seven deadly sins is a worthy cause to go to hell (with the exception of reconciliation.) Like in the wars, if you have to shoot someone for the good of your country and the rest of humanity, it's not wrath, greed, or any of the others, so is it fine? Maybe. So in conclusion, I'm leaning toward yes, you would be damned, but honestly I'm not God. I have my opinions, and I have my speculation. But what I don't have is a clear cut answer for you, just some thoughts and ideas. Sorry. -------------------
