I did make the get out that "inquisitive" was just a quick example. The problem with the word "educated" is it's too narrow a term. Education does not always imply intelligence. It's just a thought and it doesn't mean a lot either way but I think it's a misrepresentation of the forum regulars.

To be honest I think if you were to refer to an individual as "educated" you would generally mean that that they had been educated at some kind of university. It means they have been taught while intelligence is by its nature innate.

Why is that "Why westerners are selfish" thread still open? I don't understand, honestly. What could possibly be discussed, with any degree of depth, in that thread? It's clearly, clearly a troll thread.

I must also say, I still don't see the point in the separate atheist/religion threads. I don't see why, for instance, I as an atheist wouldn't be allowed to discuss interpretations of religious text without ever having to fall back on "aha, but believing in god is silly!". I do study philosophy, and have taken quite a few classes on various religions without ever questioning validity, but interpretation and meaning. I still feel that these separate threads are totally unnecessary, especially if they're just about excluding certain members from conversations they can easily have by simply placing some personal bias aside.

I'd like to point out that the guy created the exact same thread in my forum. He's a bit of a concern to me as well. I brought him up with the mod team so we'll see where that goes, Byzantine.

Wo Daddy Wo, as I recall, you three shut down a majority of the religion threads because you deemed controversial topics unsuited for the forum. Looking at the front page, I count one religion-related thread that isn't exclusive (I don't think I qualify the "are you afraid of death" thread, but even if you do, that's barely two). So when you say "any religious thread" I'm a little confused. We've only got the one option.

I suggest a compromise. If Byzantine agrees, would it be suitable that you revise exclusive thread rules to disallow "negative posts"? By that I mean you can allow people like Byz who are perfectly willing to discuss meaning and interpretation. I think, this being the Thinker's Lounge, we have the maturity to be able to put aside our beliefs for a moment and discuss the meaning of a text without ever mentioning the fact that we don't believe or indicating that at all in our posts. I technically minored in religion and would love to take part in discussion about religious interpretation without bickering about whether they're true or not. Is that a possible scenario? Then there might be less bitching about that place you aren't allowed to go to. No need to be so hard-lined.

Seriously though dudes, I'm reminded of that episode of South Park where Cartman gets his own exclusive theme park and suddenly everyone wants to get in just because they aren't allowed. The hell guys? Do we really care all that much?

No, this is not possible. Appreciate the idea but the threads are staying as they are with current easy to understand rules. Post in the Religious thread if you are a believer in Christ and post in the Atheists thread if you're an Atheist. Do not bash the other party for they are not allowed to post in your thread to defend themselves. AGAIN, these are both being run as a TRIAL and it's still to be determined if they will be successful or not.

Folks, look, the respective Christian and Atheist "appreciation" threads are nothing but experimental. We want to see how they go. Honestly, I don't get the problem with them. Why shouldn't atheists have a place, ONE THREAD where they can discuss their ideas and perception of the universe free from anything even remotely proselytizing, arguments that the Bible is the divinely inspired word of something or other, and creation ideology? By the same token, why can't Christians have a thread free of arguments and demand for "proof" of their faith?

Look I am neither Christian or atheist, and I am perfectly fine with both threads. Again, we are only talking about two threads here.
