Eternal life would be good in ways,why would you want to die, and just have nothing forever(unless you believe in God.) It could also have a bad quality, true you would lose your Mum, Dad and Brothers, but you could make a family, and make them life forever with you.

Of course it would be bad.

1. I mean, it makes you LITERALLY INVINCIBLE, I mean imagine what someone could do with that,

2. And even if somebody is that real good guy, he'll eventually get consumed by the power an be come more evil than Hitler. Even if they believed in a god, they would have to care about sinning anymore because they would never die.

3. If somebody somehow managed to stay neutral, they would be terribly sad and bored. Because if your friends have a normal lifespan unlike you will have to face many deaths of your many friends. Scratch that, you wouldn't be able to see your friends after 10 years or so, because they would eventually notice and you would have to avoid attention. It would eventually get boring because you would eventually get around to do 99.99% percent of things you can do on this planet. I bet someone would go crazy having eternal life anyways,

4. On the other hand if they somehow managed to stay good, they could help the whole entire world by a ton. They could go looking at different planets, they could explore the water as long as they wanted to, they could save people's lives.

But in the end they would always crack, so my conclusion is, yes, it would be really bad.

It would be amazing not to die, hard to watch ur family and friends die around you, but can you outlive the Earth itself? What happens when the Earth itself dies, does your Immortality allow you to wander through space for an eternity, alone. In the long run, maybe dieing is good.

Don't forget that there's a difference between eternal life and immortality.

Eternal life could go on after death- meaning into heaven or hell. However, what you're talking about is immortality where you would stay on earth and never DIE.

Well in that case, then of course I would destroy it. Life and death are on a balance, you can't take away one from the equation. And even if you could, you would stay so miserable and unhappy, and it'll become more of a curse than a blessing.

Has anyone mentioned evolution? Because all living things are meant to evolve over time, take into consideration that the entire human race could be made eternal at this present time, then that would completely halt evolution (considering restrictive measures are placed upon reproduction against overpopulation - kinda like present-day China). Humanity's natural development would completely cease, and the only option would be artificial evolution (biological nanotechnology).

Anyway, that aside, and personally, I probably wouldn't use it; however I am pretty selfish deep down. However, many points raised by people in this thread I agree with, such as eternal life alone, watching loved ones die, eternal life in the wrong hands, etc. Disregarding those, yes, I would use it, considering I could choose when to die - like Nicholas Flamel in the first Harry Potter.
