That's a nice label you apply to me despite the fact that I've never mentioned it. Also I'm pretty sure AA isn't an atheist either, but I'm not going to assume anything either.

I'm sorry but the sheepherder never did any such thing. All he did was write out his concept of morality for others to follow. Then convinced people that it is the indisputable word of God.

Now if you are refering to Jesus well he was a carpenter. And he never personally save my life or anyone else alive today. All he might have done is save your after life. And that is all anecdotal anyway.

The point is that it's nobody's business who other people choose to love and marry and you don't have the right to legislate your *bleep*ed up moral code. Don't expect me to take you seriously when you talk about morality if your moral code is based on a book whose entire first half is devoted to describing the actions of a self-centered, genocidal, infanticidal, sexist, homophobic, megalomanic god who undergoes a complete change of heart when he decides to descend to Earth and suddenly begin preaching about how we should all love each other. Even though he's supposedly eternal and never-changing, right?

Did you seriously play the Hitler card and attempt to compare genocide to homosexuality? That's really cute considering how genocidal your god is. Furthermore, who cares who's an expert on Christianity? It's like being an expert on wiping your ass. It's impertinent to anyone else and no one else cares. If you think this is a harsh assessment of Christianity, fine. But as someone who was raised in a very religious household and who has actually read and analyzed the passages of the Bible, I'm entitled to make this assessment.

The United States has seen an enormous surge of support for gay rights in the past decade. For the first time ever this year, we can see that various polls reveal that a majority of Americans support gay rights. Even though 75% of the United States is affiliated with a particular denomination of Christianity (and a substantial percentage exists that is non-denominational, as well), the majority of the U.S. still supports gay rights. It's only disgusting fundamentalists who insist on imposing their personal views on others via legislation who are impeding the advancement of civil rights.

Ceasar's things to Ceasar's, and God's things to God...even Jesus suggested that you should butt the *bleep* out of other people's business.

Do you extend that philosophy to polygamy, polygyny, or polyandry? Because anyone that agrees with that^, but then is against plural marriages is a hypocrite.

Can you read English? You write in English, but you so often are in capable of responding to my posts with any sort of relevance that I am forced to question your ability to understand the Language. I didn't compare genocide to homosexuality. I simply noted that everyone whether its AG or Hitler is a Moral authority when it comes to relativism. The fact that you cannot address that, and have to turn my comments around as though I was comparing homosexuality and genocide leads me to the conclusion that you either cannot understand English or cannot respond to my statements with any relevancy. Which is it?

Now that might come off harsh, but I expect more out of you then just bullshit responses that have nothing to do with what I said.

When you stop subscribing to "christian" science publications you'll find there's a lot lot less archeological/historical evidence supporting anything in the old testament, aside from clearly well documented battles. No archeological evidence supports god smiting his enemies in those battles. Just that the battles did occur. But that really has nothing to do with whether or not Moses was qualified to speak on human sexuality/psychology. So we've historically verified that there might have been a slave uprising in ancient egypt. That certainly doesn't speak towards moses qualifications as a psychologist.

I have nothing but contempt for an academic who inserts the word "christian" (or even muslim, mormon, buddhist, or whatever) at the beginning of his job title. I'd have equal contempt for an academic who inserted the word "athiest" at the beginning of his job title so don't start accusing me of being anti-religious. I'm not anti-religious. I'm pro unbiased science.

As for the "moral relativistic" thing, again, we don't live in a moral relativistic world. There are absolute standards of perfect morality. Any one individual claiming they know those standards is arrogant, so it is up to each individual to try and discern for himself what the least harmful, least oppressive, and most effecient code of morality is. But there ARE perfect standards, they just happen to be almost unachievable. They're made doubly unachievable when people keep clinging to standards of morality written down by sheepherders in extremely conservative nomadic societies. If you free yourself from your bias, and come back to this thread with an argument against homosexuality that doesn't boil down to words written in an old book... I mean a legitimate well thought out educated argument that makes academic points about the harmfulness of homosexuality, I'll be inclined to listen.

Seconded. What someone does in their own home is their business provided the rights of a weaker individual are not being infringed upon. If all three or more parties are consenting adults, and they all want to get married, well then why the !@#% not? Again Silver, it's really none of your business.

I think it was the other way around Naked Snake, he did not understand my post and then posted something irrelevant. It seems like there is a group on this forum that always backs up each other no matter what happens... truly sad for a thinking lounge, nothing more than politicians.
