I'm not afraid of what I cannot avoid honestly.

I believe when you die you re-live your life from the beginning, without you knowing that it has already happened.

If we're reborn, though, then that wouldn't quite explain the growing population upon earth. That means more and more people sinned and were condemned (from a quasi-religious viewpoint) when they've been doing the exact same thing without knowing it. Then again, exploring the theme of rebirth in Stephen King's Dark Tower series, in which the protagonist (who does not get attached to his comrades, coldly thinking of them as tools) ends up re-exploring the worlds he so painstakingly traveled through again and again, although once he finds a bit of humanity within him he finds a change when he is reborn.
So that could mean that we are all condemned to repeat the same life over and over, but with free will to change what we do in it, so we can go somewhere else. Those that turn bad could be condemned again.

you just have to have faith in heaven or hell orwhatever else you may belive in...religion may just be something that people developed to keep sane...you know..something tho belive in when time are tuff

As nice as it would be to have some sort of "afterlife", I simply find that to be a fantasy people choose to believe in because it's too hard for them to imagine death coming and just...that's it, nothing more. No more thoughts, dreams, nothing. It's a cold image that people would rather not imagine, which is why these religions have all been made.

I'm not sure I can believe any such fantasies though. When you're dead, that's it. Strangely, that may be the hardest "post-death" to actually imagine.

Do I fear death? Not necessarily, but the time is not now. I rather enjoy living.

I'm afraid to die at such a young age. But I know it's inevitable so there's really no use of being too paranoid about it. If it's your time to go, then it is. You can't stop it. And I believe that if you die, your body would rot and your soul would go back to your Maker. I don't really believe in stages like purgatories and all that.

Death is a unknown, and that's why humans are naturally afraid of it just as any animal. The mind works to avoid uncertainty. So to most people including me the idea of dieing scares the crap out of me, however it is said that "he who lives his life in fear of death is already dead" so I don't try to think about it.

This is just in a logical sense, the human mind wants to avoid uncertainty so when we don't know the answer to something often we give it false reasoning. For example people in ancient civilizations, would blame the Gods for rain which we now know otherwise. So the idea of God could be something we want to be true, because we are worried what happens in death.

I personally, want to believe in a higher being. I want there to be a God, and I hope there is one.

Well, I would be afraid of death if it was to come whilst I was young, but honestly, after (hopefully) having lived a long and happy life, I would find death something of a comfort.
Eternity sounds like an awful long time, and even if Heaven existed, there would only be so much "happiness and rainbows" before I wanted something else, or just a release.

Can anyone actually imagine existing for thousands of years, and honestly say they would continue to find it fulfilling and interesting even after such a long time? I know I can't.

As such, I believe, and hope, that at death there is a brief moment of peace and acceptance, before slipping out of consciousness for the last time.

Personally, i am not afraid of death. There is nothing to be afraid of. When i think about it, i get very sad, about not seeing loved ones again. But that sadness is very seperate to fear. I am not afraid of death but i don't want to die because of what i have here, if that makes sense.


On another note, I had a big debate about this with my friend the other day, and it' still not resolved. We where discussing death and it came around to what there is after death. Neither of us are religious so we managed to determine extremely quickly that there was no heaven or hell(just our opinions, sorry to all the religious ones out there).
I said that when your dead, it's just black, although your not conscious that it is black.
My friend said that when you are dead there is nothing.
My argument is that pure blackness, which is what i think there is after life, is the absence of light, and there being no light makes it black.
My friends reasoning was that "there is nothing" and when i stated my argument, he would reply, on numerous times "there is just nothing".
Discuss and help to sort out this issue once and for all
