death,are you afraid of it and what do you think happens once you die?

I'd say I am not afraid of dying, but I fear of what might happen to my family should I die.
And as far as to what happens when you die; nothing. You're body completely shuts down from your organs to the most miniscule tissues. And so far there were no humans that really died completely, decomposed and have risen from the dead that has a tale to tell about death.

Why fear the inevitable, if there's nothing, why fear nothing? It's not like you'll be aware of the nothingness.

I don't give a shit, really.

I got chit that needs to be accomplished. Death isn't on my mind.

What happens once we die? Brain turns off, and everything fades away. It's fine with me.

Because you don't consciously choose what you fear; and if anything is to be feared by your brain, wouldn't the fear of death, even if it is inevitable, be one of the most rational things to fear?

Certainly not. i don't think it's very rational to fear that which you cannot change. Yes, i don't want to die and it's in my best interest to prolong my life for as long as possible but it's just a waste of precious time and thought to fear what i cannot prevent.

I'm absolutely terrified of death. It's considered unknown and I am xenophobic. There is nothing wrong with fearing death. Death will take away your loved ones and eventually yourself. I don't know about you guys but I love living, I love being alive and experiencing everything that life has to offer. Unfortunately death is just a part of life, it is necessary for this to happen to maintain balance. I'm a Christian, I do have faith, but no one is perfect. Even I have those moments of doubt, but I just pray. A classmate asked me how I believe in God after all of the high level science classes that I have had. It's simple, they have not explained anything. Science cannot explain it. What else can?

Science can and will. To think otherwise is moronic.

Also this entire thread just seems to dance around the issue of god and religion, and is more like a poll, dunno why it isn't closed. JUST POINTING THAT OUT.
