Anyway, I'm 23. My workplace has ONE single girl, who I'm pretty sure doesn't like me. I am trying to get to know her, but I don't hold much hope of anything good happening.

Myspace is a huge no no. No offence to anyone here who uses myspace, but every single myspace profile I've seen is a pile of total crap. Attention seekers infest the site, posting photos of themselves to get pointless comments. People on there tend to speak in horrible rap/texting language, or are just hopelessly emo. And every single time I load up a page on there, aside from my own (no longer in use, as you may have guessed), I'm assailed by hideous pop music.

Basically I've never seen a profile on myspace of someone who is actually genuine, not an attention seeker, not emo enough so that you want to actually physically assault them, and who doesn't have a thing for hideous music.

OK, there must be some out there, but most likely none local to where I live.
I've probably just had bad luck with encountering *bleep*s on the site, so I am biased. Still, meeting online isn't good. People aren't the same in real life. And it's extremely frustrating if you meet someone online and can't meet up due to distance...

Anyway, as for game conventions, I've only ever seen one such thing happen in the UK. It was more of a mini, UK based version of E3. Never seen anything else since. If you go to the cinema, then you sit in a dark room, essentially alone. How can you meet people there? (Or did you mean actual theatre as in plays etc?) And game shops? You talk to random people in game shops? I don't talk to random people full stop.
