Hardest/Most Rewarding Boss

I think a worthwhile disclaimer is to skip over the mega bosses from the SMT series, lol. Because there's no way Hitaro (name?) from DDS1 can be anywhere, but number one on this list.

That being said, most of my favorite bosses are courtesy of Atlus. The Contrarian King in the first dungeon of Persona 4 was really fun. You're just learning the mechanics of the game and it takes a few run through to learn his attack tendencies, plus there's only one or two Personas available to you that early that can get you through the fight. (Ara Mitama or Jack Frost is usually how I do it). You also need to train a bit to get Yukiko Media. And the reward for the fight, is not only pure relief, but also a Fan for Yukiko that sticks with her for 50-60% of the game.

Other than that, almost every single boss in Demon's Souls was well worth the agony. I remember how happy I was every time I got to the point where I could beat bosses without getting hit. The Adjudicator was the first, but many of the others fell in line after that.

Besides that, The Shadow Broker was fun, not nearly on the level of those others or even others I haven't listed, but it was more the experience of finally seeing him and getting a more boss-y fight in the Mass Effect series that was cool.

Let's see...top five hardest bosses i've faced are: 5. Gnasty Gnorc from Spyro the Dragon (how can something so fat move so fast!?). 4. Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist 2 (the only way you can beat him on your first run through the game is by running around the arena like a psycho and bouncing a boomerang off the wall to try and hit him in the back so he can't block. or hoping he destroys the wall so you can transmute the Arakawa robot.). 3. the ultimate dragon from DQ8 (not only is he ridiculously overpowered, but you have to fight through his other 7 forms without a break). 2 and 1. the Emerald and Ruby Weapons (respectively) from FF7. I don't think i need an explanation for those ones.

The ones I can think of right now are Shadow Yukiko, Shadow Kanji and Contrarian King. All from P4.

Especially, Contrarian King.

Oh, some of the monsters from MHFU can be hard as hell too, especially on G-Rank. Or probably just HR6's infamous Black Gravios, that one took a month before I finally killed it.

At the risk of looking stupid or like I haven't played many RPGs

Flannery's Torkoal. Attract + Body Slam's paralysis + Overheat during Sunny Day = wow I'm disappointed that the fourth gym is probably the hardest part for quiiiiiite a while.

Depends on which members. I, myself, found Demyx and Xigbar tricky the first time around.

Hardest bosses for me were Iselia Queen and "Unlimited" Indalecio from Star Ocean: The Second Story. Followed by the extra bosses in Kingdom Hearts namely Sephiroth.

Wasn't Terra that unbeatable character that no matter how good you were you died instantly? I think I once had an MSN talk with Chronoboy21 (man! come to this forum ) about it.

Yeah he was certainly the hardest character to beat MF with, there was a strategy you could use though that made it a little more bearable, using Thunder Surge, Curaga and a lot of luck

Nope. I was stuck on Xaldin for a while, damn lancer. Oh, Demyx was a bit of a pain too and that gambler one whose name I keep forgetting.

That'd be Luxord, he was a bit of a pain but it was mostly based on luck :/ Xaldin was horrible though, I think I got saved by Mickey twice in that fight
