Learning Skills off Equipment

So, this is one of my least favorite things ever. I don't know if its bled into any WRPGs, but this system shows up in all of my least favorite JRPGs.

There's something about being FORCED to equip weapons and armor inferior to my best stuff to learn skills that just infuriates me. I hate having an inventory full of terrible equipment with empty bars that I need to fill up to learn skills....

FFIX and Tales of Vesperia both employ this system and it just totally irks me off. Does anyone else have this same problem or am I just a crazy person?

Learning skills via equipment is fine with me but getting limited stat boost via equipment is what really irks.

Characters are actually losing stat if they level up normally in FFIX.

Infinity Blade has this. It's addictive and annoying as hell at the same time. >_<

Lol. This is easily the best way to describe my feelings towards the whole mess.

I sort of hated it when some items were only available in a single mission or stealable only from a character in a certain encounter -- the worst part is that its only a once encounter of such mission/character during the entire game, which means it won't come back further on.

The other part that I dislike in learning skills from weapons/armor is the ones that have a certain counter put into them such as the case of Riviera - The Promised Land. Certain weapons could only be used 35, 20, 10 or even once! After that they shatter. There was an option in the game where it took the part into an the weapons didn't have a counter on them -- enabling us to learn the skills from even those weapons that only had 1 usage in the storylines.

There are some games where I enjoyed this method of learning skills. Such is the case of Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced. The weapons there didn't had a limited usage and almost all of them could be bought, poached or obtainable via the airhship store owned my a moogle <3. Learning the skills was quite easy as well when Duel Wield was learned; equip two weapons and earn exp from each.
