Please post when you first played this game, and what you thought of it.

got it when it first came out. still have it, box and all. lol its my fav in the series. i hope it is gonna be on the wii virtual console. that would rock!

I got it in the early 90s after I got my NES. Easily the best of the 3 NES titles, although it got quite hard near the end.

Dracula's Curse was definitely one of the best hack and slash games to grace the NES. But as SummonerSupreme stated, it gets bloody hard once you reach the eighth world, where every enemy drains 4 bars of health from you.

That part depended on the character-Sypha and Grant (I think) would lose 5 bars each time they got hit. And if you won the first time, you had to play again to get the "good" ending and real credits, the second go-around was tougher and you always lost the 4-5 bars each time. The upside was you had your partner from the start.

Oh man, the second quest was just brutal. I couldn't even get past the third world. I can't even imagine how difficult the rest of the levels are...

I managed to complete it all, it's partly dependent on the paths you choose and your partner. I seemed to do the best with Sypha because his magic attacks were very effective once you get the Double Shot and Triple Shot items.

Yeah, Syfa's great. Best character, hands down. Her ice spell is very useful.

i liked aulcard! this is the very 1st game he was in!

The only thing I liked about Alucard was the fact that he could turn into a bat so you could bypass certain obstacles. Physically he was weak, and I never used him for attacking purposes. Grant was good too for getting past certain obstacles by climbing over walls, but that's pretty much it. For me, both Syfa and Trevor were the two characters I always used. Trevor's triple Holy Water and Syfa's Ice/Lightning magic made certain bosses very easy to defeat, which would otherwise be nearly impossible with Grant or Alucard.

I liked Grant the best, since he was so useful. But you can't beat Trevor Belmont.
