If there was a single The Legend of Zelda game that really deserved an HD upgrade, it's Wind Waker. All my love to Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, but the use of color and the brilliant animations and facial expressions of Link and the rest of the cast just cried out for HD improvements. There's really no better evidence than these latest screenshots for The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD.
Oh man, all of the feels are leaking out of my eyes in liquid form right now. They even have a screenshot of Link standing on Tera's ship waving goodbye to his Grandma. Oh, and there's his little sister too, aw jeez. Everything just looks so vibrant and alive. Amazing how different an HD upgrade for such a stylistic game as Wind Waker is from realistic shooters and the like. It's all about the lighting and effects here.
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD is planned for release exclusively on the Wii U in October later this year. Featuring a handful of gameplay improvements and some outstanding visual improvements, it will be the first Zelda remake by Nintendo -- and set a high bar for any more to be released in the future.
